Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • E-Collars
  • Flat Collars
  • whistle

Training generally starts with introduction to various elements your dog will encounter, such as birds, guns, water, livestock, cover, boats, blinds, and antlers. Obedience training can begin once introduction training has started.

After obedience and introduction are complete, yard training and various drills are the next steps in producing a finished retriever. At this stage, dogs are given basic tools and training to understand more advanced concepts and corrections as they apply to actual hunting, testing, and field work. Advanced handling, marking, and field training will complete the finished retriever’s training. Each dog will have a program built around them to meet the specific goals of the hunter.

Wednesday afternoon/evening training classes are also offered, running from 3:30 pm to dark. Topics covered include all aspects of training from puppies and young dogs through advanced handling and field work. Classes run in 6-week blocks or can be attended as single sessions.
