Starter programs cover basic obedience, manners, and off-leash instruction, addressing common behavioral issues like jumping, leash pulling, stealing, door excitement, separation anxiety, and housebreaking. They also provide specialized training courses, including private training sessions, puppy training, and therapy dog training.
Private lessons offer one-on-one, personalized training tailored to the dog’s specific lifestyle and home activity. Group classes aim to create a bond between owner and dog in a fun, playful environment, using games to improve focus. Puppy Beginnings classes are for puppies under 5 months, focusing on housebreaking, manners, socialization, handling skills, and confidence building. Basic Obedience is a 6-week class held once a week in the evenings.
Board & Train programs provide a regimented training environment free from typical home distractions, combining boarding with training. Therapy Dog Training is available in 3 and 4-week sessions, offered for both day camp and overnight camp, preparing dogs and owners to participate in therapeutic visitation.

Homestead Dogs provides fun and effective dog and puppy training and boarding services from their peaceful facility in Delaware, Ohio, located near northern Columbus. Amy Durfey, the owner and head dog trainer, combines her background in psychology with professional dog training certifications to offer a premium experience for pets and their owners.
They offer a wide variety of training programs designed to accommodate busy schedules and different levels of expertise. Their goal is to help families create a happy, healthy bond with their furry companions.
Homestead Dogs also offers dog and puppy boarding and kenneling services. Their boutique facility provides spacious, odor-free, and climate-controlled enclosures with plenty of outdoor play space for socialization and enrichment activities.
Accomplishments
Amy Durfey, the owner and head dog trainer, holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Kentucky. She became a certified professional trainer from the National Canine School for Dog Trainers in 2009. Amy has taught obedience classes through the Dublin City Schools Continuing Education Program for 4 years and has trained hundreds of dogs over her 10-year career. She is a member of good standing of the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association (NK9DTA) and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
