Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Hope for Dogs offers Behavioral Modifications & Problem Solving, Puppy Developmental Training, On-Leash Training, and Off-Leash Training. Behavioral modification includes assessing your dog’s behaviors, helping you understand what causes them, and customizing solutions to resolve negative behaviors.
Puppy training focuses on developing beneficial habits, promoting successful potty training, and quick adaptation to a new environment. It also covers understanding Critical Developmental Stages and proper socialization. On-Leash training is the foundation for a well-mannered dog, addressing proper heeling, loose leash walking, and basic obedience commands like Sit, Sit-Stay, Coming when called, Down, and Down-Stay. Off-Leash training ensures control using verbal and hand commands when the dog is not at your side, further displaying your position as pack leader and developing trust and respect.

Testimonials
“Training with Hope has been great. She has shown us how to clearly communicate…”
– Emily Schofield, Lafayette Ca
“Murphy didn’t seem to be mellowing out even though he was almost 4 years old. He would bark uncontrollably at noises and people who came over. He would growl and cower at our gardeners and contractors.”
– Murphy, Lab/Collie Mix
“I have two dogs, Belle and Tally that I absolutely adore, but they were very spoiled with no manners or discipline. I was not able to take them on walks because they would drag me along like a rag doll.”
– Tally, Australian Shepherd Mix Belle, Labrador/Pit Bull Mix

Accomplishments
Hope Verbon-Lucas, the trainer, developed her passion for dogs growing up with show and field trained Labradors. After struggling with her own shelter dog, Willie, she was inspired to learn more about communicating with dogs.
She completed an extensive, hands-on mentorship program, worked as a behaviorist at a local shelter, and trained dogs for a rescue foundation before providing solutions to other dog owners.
