Dog Training Methodology
HumDOG offers 8-week group training classes, held once a week for one hour at Redwood Acres in Eureka. Classes are scheduled on Mondays from July to September, with various start times in the afternoon and evening.
Course offerings include Kindergarten Puppy Training for puppies 11 weeks to 10 months old, and Beginning Training for dogs over 10 months old and first-time students. Intermediate classes like Foundation and Basic/CGC require prerequisites, as do advanced courses such as Rally Training and Introduction to Dog Sports.

Pricing Summary
Courses are priced at $120. A one-time $10 discount is available for dogs adopted from a shelter, humane society, or rescue group when enrolling in their first Puppy or Beginning class. 5% of class fees are contributed to the Terri Lockett Memorial Spay/Neuter Fund.
Policies
Dogs that are aggressive toward people are not accepted into classes. If a dog exhibits aggressive behavior, as determined solely by HumDOG, the owner may be asked to leave the class. For handlers under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must remain on the premises during the class.
About the Trainer
Humboldt Dog Obedience Group (HumDOG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1978, dedicated to promoting the benefits of obedience training for all dogs and encouraging responsible dog ownership. They offer a variety of group training classes for different skill levels and ages, held at Redwood Acres in Eureka.

The organization hosts an annual Dog Expo, which will be celebrating its 36th year in 2026, and also organizes CPE Agility Trials.
How to Get Started!
To register for a course, clients must complete a two-step process. First, submit an application either online via the website form or by printing and mailing a PDF application.
Second, mail a personal check or cashier’s check payable to HumDOG, along with a copy of the dog’s DHPP and Rabies vaccination information (for dogs over 4 months old), to P.O. Box 6733, Eureka, CA 95502-6733. If requesting the adoption discount, a copy of the adoption papers from a humane society or rescue group must also be included.
