Adventure Days are one-on-one dog day training and socialization adventures where Destiny picks up the dog and takes them to local, dog-friendly locations like stores and parks. These 2-hour lessons focus on teaching dogs to work around real-world distractions, improving manners, attention, confidence, recall, polite greetings, loose leash walking, relaxation, and socialization. Travel to and from the client’s home is included.

Board + Train (B+T) programs are small-scale, in-home programs customized for each dog. They cover basic obedience, important milestones during sensitive periods, building duration of positions (sit, stand, down, place), leash breaking, loose leash walking, name recognition, marker/release words, threshold manners, drop it/out, leave it, potty training, crate training, cooperative care, and proper socialization. Specific programs include Puppy Jump Start (under 6 months, 2 weeks), Late Start Canine (6 months+, 2 weeks), and Unleashed Canine (10 months+, 3 weeks, includes e-collar system). All B+T programs include follow-up private lessons.

Private Lessons are hands-on, in-home sessions where owners learn to be skilled handlers. These lessons allow one-on-one time with the dog, with Destiny demonstrating, assisting, and addressing owner questions. They include distraction training both inside and outside the house, working with the dog and family for consistent training.

About the Trainer

Hund + Soul Dog Training, led by owner and trainer Destiny Thomasson, offers a range of dog training services from basic to advanced obedience, sport dog foundations, board and trains, adventure days, and private lessons. Destiny emphasizes a “work the dog in front of me” mentality, staying up to date with the latest science on animal behavior and training.

Adventure Days are a popular alternative to doggy day care, focusing on real-world distraction training and socialization. Destiny picks up pups for one-on-one adventures to local, dog-friendly locations like stores and parks, lasting two hours and resulting in tired, well-socialized dogs.

Board + Train programs are small-scale and customizable, geared to individual clients and their dogs, with a limited number of clients taken at a time to ensure personalized attention. These programs are an excellent jump start for all age groups, including sport and gun dogs, and include follow-up private lessons.

Private Lessons are offered in-home, providing hands-on training where owners learn to be skilled handlers. These lessons include distraction training both inside and outside the home, ensuring consistency with the whole family.

Accomplishments

Destiny Thomasson, owner, handler, and trainer, grew up immersed in animals and was exposed to dog sports early through her grandparents, who bred and exhibited Chinese Sharpei’s in AKC Conformation. She started handling dogs in AKC Junior Showmanship at 8 years old and competed extensively, finishing her first whippet’s Championship in AKC.

She gained experience working at Sporting Fields Kennels under Amanda Giles & Debbie Butt. During college, she spent three years working as a kennel tech, trainer, and handler for a Labrador Retriever Kennel, caring for over 80 dogs and gaining exposure to retriever events. She is a self-trained upland and waterfowl hunting companion trainer, trialing her dogs through NAVHDA, UKC, and AKC Hunt Test and Field Trials, and guides upland hunts.

Destiny actively pursues a variety of dog sport titles with her own pack of 7 canine companions, including Tracking, Obedience, Rally, Dock Diving, IGP (Schutzhund), Scent work, Fast CAT, and Barn Hunt. She is actively pursuing HRD Search and Rescue Certification with one of her German Shepherds and offers Game Recovery services. She holds active memberships with her local UKC Hunting Retriever Club, NAVHDA Chapter, DVG Club, USCA, OKC Kennel Club, United Blood Trackers Association, Red Dirt SAR, and breed clubs. She is also one of the state coordinators for OKGSP Rescue.
