IBSO K9 offers individualized training programs with step-by-step instructions and daily homework. Their Pet Obedience classes include Puppy Class for dogs aged 11 weeks to 6 months (5 weekly sessions), covering basic theory, socialization, shaping, crate training, and leadership. Basic Obedience (6 months+) and Advanced Obedience (6 months+, prerequisite basic obedience or evaluation) are each 6 weekly sessions, teaching commands like sit, down, stay, heel on leash, come, recall, and proofing.

Off-Leash Control, for dogs aged 1 year and up, consists of 5-6 weekly sessions utilizing electronic collars for quick off-leash control, including sit-stay, down-stay, heel off leash, and come when called, also recommended for behavior modification. Private Lessons are available for dogs 8 weeks and up, offering two 1-hour sessions to work on specific goals. House Visits provide a 1-hour in-home session for dogs 6 months and up. Additionally, IBSO K9 provides Sport/Police Training, including IPO Tracking, Obedience, Protection, Police K9 Training, and Seminars/Workshops, though new sport clients are currently on a waiting list.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Puppy Class is $300 for 5 weekly sessions. Basic Obedience and Advanced Obedience classes are each $475 for 6 weekly sessions. Off-Leash Control training costs $600 for 5-6 weekly sessions, with the dog owner responsible for purchasing the electronic collar.

Private Lessons are available for $105 for two 1-hour sessions, and House Visits are $125 for a single 1-hour session. Sport Sessions are priced at $75 per session, though new sport clients are currently on a waiting list. Payment is required upon registration and can be made online via credit/debit card (VISA/MasterCard/Discover).

Policies

All dogs enrolling in training must be current on vaccinations, including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, bordetella, and parainfluenza. Current vaccination records must be submitted electronically or brought to the first scheduled day of training. Dogs are required to be kept on a nylon or metal slip-type collar and leash at all times, and a minimum free space of 20 feet must be maintained between pet families.

If a dog has shown any signs of aggression toward people or other animals, IBSO K9, LLC must be informed in advance, and the owner should not remove the dog from the vehicle until a trainer provides assistance. Children younger than 16 are recommended to stay home; if present, they must be accompanied by a second supervising adult responsible for their supervision. IBSO K9, LLC reserves the right to refuse or terminate training classes for any pet, for any reason, at any time, and is not held liable for any costs or expenses incurred as a result of a pet’s enrollment.

IBSO K9 LLC is a multifaceted dog training academy located in Millerstown, Pennsylvania, operating as an exclusive business dedicated to promoting and preserving the Working German Shepherd in the United States. They specialize in producing, raising, training, and maintaining high-quality Working German Shepherds from European working lines, focusing on traits and temperament true to the breed.

The academy is situated on a 25-acre facility in a secluded Pennsylvania hollow, featuring trails, a full-size Schutzhund/IPO field, a 50 x 100 indoor training building, and climate-controlled kennels with private indoor/outdoor runs and large fenced outdoor areas. All IBSO K9 dogs share their home with the owners.

IBSO K9 prides itself on developing individualized training programs tailored to each K9, working closely with owners to foster a positive learning environment. Their training philosophy involves analyzing a dog’s current performance level and setting objectives and goals, utilizing each dog’s strengths. They also breed working German Shepherds, though not frequently, and compete extensively in IGP, a breed test for working dogs.

Joe Brockington is a National Level Trial & Training Helper, a 5 Star Helper, and the Dean of Programs for The Helper Academy. He is also a National Level Helper for The German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA) SV Program, having achieved Excellent Ratings at multiple national championships including AWMA and AWDF events.

IBSO K9’s dogs and their handlers have achieved significant titles and high scores in IGP (International Gebrauchshund Pruefung) and IGP FH, including High in Trial, High Obedience, High Tracking, and High Protection. Notable achievements include Naughty vom Wolfstraum being selected to represent the AWDF at the FCI IGP-FH Championship in Finland, and Enoch von IBSO earning IGP 1 and IGP 2 titles with high scores. Their dogs also hold titles such as CGC, CGCU, CGCA, BH, IPO 1, IPO 2, IPO3, and ZVV1.

How to Get Started!

To begin training with IBSO K9, clients need to complete the enrollment form, providing details such as the pet’s name, breed, age, owner’s contact information, veterinarian’s name and phone, and answering questions about prior dog experience and aggression history. Payment for the chosen class or session is required upon registration and can be conveniently paid online via credit/debit card.

Once payment is received, IBSO K9 will contact the client to schedule the first training session. For the first day of dog school, clients must bring a current copy of their dog’s vaccination records, the completed IBSO K9 Enrollment Form, their dog on a nylon or metal slip-type collar and a 4 to 6-foot nylon leash, and confirmation of their class tuition fees paid online.
