Rick has been an incredible trainer for my dog, Phoenix. She’s a very smart and high-energy Catahoula, and Rick has such a natural way of connecting with her. He not only helped Phoenix work on obedience and manners but also gave me clear, practical guidance so I felt confident continuing the training at home.
What I really appreciate is how professional yet approachable Rick is–he takes time to explain the “why” behind the techniques, and Phoenix responds so well to his calm, consistent style. Training with him has made a huge difference in both her behavior and our bond.

My reactive French Bulldog, Dixie, and I are currently in training with the Dog Whisperer (aka Rick Markum), and we’ve had a great experience. I’m amazed by Rick’s knowledge and insight into what Dixie is thinking and why she behaves the way she does. He not only understands her mindset, but also knows how to correct the unwanted behaviors in a patient, positive and effective way. At the same time, he gives me the guidance I need to handle situations myself–and when it’s my behavior that needs adjusting, he helps me see it without ever making me feel called out. He warned me in the beginning, progress may be slow (marathon not a sprint), but we are definitely seeing positive progress. Dixie is calmer, more responsive, and I can see her confidence growing.
