Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Equipment:

  • collar
  • leash
  • Food Rewards
  • Obstacle Courses

IncrediPAWS offers a consistent and progressive agility program with a strong focus on building a solid foundation. They use positive reinforcement and play to teach dogs fundamentals and develop a joy for the game, while also teaching handlers effective communication methods to build trust.

Classes are structured to provide an individualized approach for each team. Group classes meet weekly for one hour over six weeks and are kept small, with no more than 7 students, to allow for maximized one-on-one attention. Some classes may have one dog/student team on the floor at a time, while others, especially beginner classes, may have multiple dogs out for drills and maximizing equipment time.

Private and semi-private agility lessons are customized to meet individual needs, varying in length and frequency. Seminars and workshops are offered throughout the year, providing one or more days of intensive training from current instructors and outside presenters. Run-throughs are also available multiple times a year, offering two to three nested courses for students to practice in a trial-like setting.

It is important to note that IncrediPAWS currently only offers agility classes and does not provide obedience, puppy manners, daycare, or boarding services. They are not offering beginner classes at this time and recommend contacting Adventure Unleashed for beginner or young dog classes. Dogs should be able to work in the presence of other dogs and people, and it is helpful if they are food or toy motivated. Students should bring a collar, leash, a comfortable crate (optional but helpful), lots of small treats, and toys to class.

How to Get Started!

To get started, prospective students should send an email describing their dog’s current skill level (even if new to the sport, noting that beginner classes are not frequently offered) and their daily availability (e.g., evenings, daytime). For dogs with some experience, it is best to contact IncrediPAWS with a short write-up of the dog’s knowledge and skills to find the right class fit. The business is not currently offering beginner classes and recommends contacting Adventure Unleashed for beginner or young dog classes. Students can check the class calendar for session dates and contact IncrediPAWS to learn more or sign up for group classes or private lessons.
