Their programs include a 30-day Puppy Program for dogs 6 months to 1 year, covering gun introduction, searching, bird introduction, recall, and whoa introduction. The Started Dog Program focuses on heeling, water work, pointing, introduction to steadiness, field quartering, and tracking.
The Finish Dog Program includes advanced skills such as whoa training, pointing, steadiness, force breaking, water work, steady by blind, shot, wing, and fall, heeling, advanced heeling, and e-collar training. Additionally, they offer a Monthly Training Program and Private Weekend Training Sessions for ongoing support or specific needs.

Iron Rod Gun Dogs is a family-owned and operated business based in Benson, AZ, specializing in gun dog training and Pudelpointer breeding. They are dedicated to producing exceptional hunting dogs and lifetime hunting partners. The business emphasizes quality training and bloodlines, focusing on developing versatile, intelligent, and steadfast companions for both field and home.
The family actively hunts together with their dogs on wild birds in Arizona, Nevada, and Kansas, using these experiences to evaluate potential breeding dogs against their high quality standards. In addition to training and breeding, Iron Rod Gun Dogs also offers dog boarding services.
Accomplishments
Kurt has been training dogs professionally since 2010, with over 10 years of experience training various bird dogs. He has trained dogs for the NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility Tests. Richina has been training Pudelpointers since 2015 and has also run dogs in NAVHDA tests. Mason has 5 years of training experience and has successfully trained dogs that passed the NAVHDA test.
The business itself was established in 2015 and boasts a “quail ‘Grand Slam'” of Mearns, Scalies, and Gamble hunting in Southern Arizona, reflecting the success of their training program.
