Iron Sharp K9

Iron Sharp K9 offers three main training programs:

**Private Training Lessons:** These lessons focus on basic obedience and are available as single refresher lessons or packages. Packages include four (4) training sessions and one (1) public outing to reinforce in-home training in real-world scenarios. This program is for dogs 12 weeks and older and is completed over 6-7 weeks. Options include In-Home Private Lessons (four 1-hour in-home sessions) or Private Lessons Combo (two sessions at Iron Sharp HQ, two in-home sessions, and one public outing). Dogs and owners will learn basic obedience communication techniques, confidence building, and manners.

**Board & Train Program:** This intensive program lasts 3-4 weeks and is conducted at Iron Sharp K9 HQ (Ruff Resort and Spa FW). Dogs receive daily training and may socialize with other eligible dogs. Participants must be at least 16 weeks old and up-to-date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines. The program focuses on basic obedience, understanding command value, building confidence, and providing safe and reliable communication skills. Each board and train includes an informative training video, an exit bath, and two follow-up in-home sessions (10 days and 21 days after boarding) to reinforce learned behaviors. This program addresses obedience commands and minor behavioral issues.

**Protection Training:** Hosted at the Iron Sharp Training Facility in Cleburne, group sessions are held on Tuesday and Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Security dogs learn group obedience, control before bite, alert on command, engage with bite, and disengage off bite.

Pricing Summary

For Private Lessons, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book a spot, with the rest paid at the first session. For the Board & Train program, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book a spot, with the rest paid at drop-off; pricing is available upon sign-up.

Protection Training offers an 8-session package for $600, or $100 per session, with payment required upfront. An evaluation for Protection Training costs $100.

Policies

For private lesson packages, two reschedules are included. A third reschedule will result in the cancellation of the program. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book a spot for both private lessons and board and train programs.

Iron Sharp K9 is a dog training business owned by Stan Smith II, who has been training a variety of dog breeds since 2015. His mission is to help dog owners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond build a better bond with their dogs through effective training.

Stan believes that all dogs are born with the ability to perform any task, and the key is to find a way to communicate effectively with them, understanding that each dog processes information differently, whether through treats, toys, or praise. Iron Sharp K9 aims to transform dogs into confident, disciplined companions, equipping them with skills to thrive in various situations.

The business offers Private Training, Board & Train programs, and Protection Training. Stan Smith II has notable accomplishments, including appearing on America’s Top Dog on A&E and winning the Space Coast Police K9 Competition three times.

Accomplishments

Stan Smith II, the owner of Iron Sharp K9, has been training dogs since 2015. He has worked with agility handlers and Danish Military handlers.

Stan appeared on the first season of America’s Top Dog on A&E with his dog, Rocko. In October 2021, he and his dog Annie Oakley won the Space Coast Police K9 Competition as one of the only civilians competing, and he has since won it two more times for a total of three back-to-back championships.

How to Get Started!

To begin training, prospective clients are asked to complete an evaluation form. This form gathers owner and dog information, details on previous training, dog breed and age, desired training service, reason for contact (e.g., new puppy, behavior, manners), and how they heard about the business.

For specific behavioral issues during private sessions, clients are advised to email iamstan90@gmail.com to discuss options. Protection Training requires an initial evaluation for a fee.
