J. Wells Kennels offers a progressive, stage-based training system for bird dogs and companion dogs. Programs include: 2–3 week Puppy Development (starting at 8 weeks), 6-week Foundation (starting at 5–6 months), 6-week Intermediate, and 6-week Advanced. Each level builds on the previous, focusing on prey drive, communication, obedience, field work, and elite performance. The “Wells Method of Fetch” is used to teach retrieving without pressure. Training includes daily structure, individualized attention, and owner education during pick-up sessions. Daycare and boarding are offered with supervised play, training, and rest periods.

Pricing Summary

Private lessons are $150/hour. Board and train programs are $85/day, with deposits required: $500 for puppy development and $1,500 for foundation, intermediate, and advanced programs. All pricing includes CT sales tax. Programs are structured in 2- to 6-week increments based on training level.

Policies

Deposits are non-refundable and required upon drop-off for board-and-train programs. No visits or tours without an appointment. Facility is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and from 12–1pm daily for lunch. Training hours are Monday–Friday, 7am–12pm and 1pm–4:45pm.
