About the Trainer

JAG (Jersey Agility of Central NJ) is a dog agility club founded in 2000 that offers group agility training classes and seminars for dog owners in the Greater Monmouth and Ocean County area of Central NJ. Classes are held indoors at the JAG Barn, White Pine Farm in Howell, NJ, featuring a dedicated arena with excellent lighting and footing that simulates trial conditions. The club serves both members and non-members, offering a structured training roadmap from Beginners 1 and Foundations up to advanced competition levels. Instructors are active competitors with diverse backgrounds, including AKC, USDAA, and UKI titles, and emphasize positive reinforcement, foundation skills, and fun-based learning. The facility is also available for member practice outside of class hours, and the club hosts regular AKC, CPE, and UKI trials. JAG instructors specialize in working with all breeds and sizes, including small dogs in the 8” division and large breeds, and many have experience with rescue dogs and multi-sport athletes.

Instructors include Jeri Prekop, Katelyn Laufenberg, Linda Rose, Sybil Carroll, and Nancy Borga, each bringing years of competitive experience and a focus on individualized training. The club also offers seminars led by experienced trainers and provides resources like class descriptions, a training roadmap, and videos of instructor dogs on YouTube. JAG promotes a community-oriented environment with member events, awards, and public recognition of dog achievements.

While primarily focused on agility, the club supports dogs competing in related sports like Barn Hunt, Fast CAT, Herding, and Nose Work. The facility is accessible with ample parking and is open Monday–Saturday 8AM–11PM and Sunday 8AM–6PM, with holiday closures.

JAG does not offer private in-home training, boarding, grooming, or dog walking services. Their core offering is group agility training and seminars.

Accomplishments

Instructors hold multiple AKC, USDAA, and UKI titles including MACH, MACH5, MACH9, AGCH, PACH, CATCH, and JCH-B. Linda Rose was a finalist at the AKC National Agility Championship and Westminster. Nancy Borga has earned multiple MACH titles and trains a dog titled in 9 sports. Sybil Carroll’s dogs have appeared in national advertising campaigns. Katelyn Laufenberg is an AKC ACT 1 and 2 judge.
