JD’s Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp

JD’s Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp offers various training programs, including Group Classes, Bootcamp Board & Train, Puppy Training & Socialization, CGC Certification Classes & Testing, Basic Obedience, and Pack Socialization. They specialize in Dog Reactivity and Dog/Human Aggression Rehabilitation.

Board & Train “Resident Camp” programs are intensive, where the dog resides at the facility for daily training and socialization. There are five types of Resident Camps tailored to specific training goals or issues: Training Camp (3 weeks, $3,300) for general unruly behaviors and mild fear; Behavior Camp (4 weeks, $4,400) for serious behavioral issues like leash reactivity and target dog aggression; Fearful-Behavior Camp (5 weeks, $5,500) for extreme fear and inability to handle environmental pressure; and Aggression Camp (6 weeks, $6,600) for high-risk dogs with bite or aggression histories towards humans or dogs.

Private training options include Ten (10) Private Lessons ($1,750) for customized goals, excluding aggression or intense reactivity, and One on One Sessions ($900) for general unruly issues, focusing on basic commands and leash manners. All Board & Train programs include follow-up lessons and access to a Saturday morning Client Maintenance group class.

Pricing Summary

An evaluation is required prior to accepting a dog for a training program, costing $100 for 60 minutes at the facility, with an additional $25 for each extra dog. In-home evaluations can be arranged, excluding dogs with behavioral issues like dog and people aggression, and pricing for these is available upon contact.

Training options include Board & Train “Resident Camp” programs: Training Camp (3 weeks, $3,300), Behavior Camp (4 weeks, $4,400), Fearful-Behavior Camp (5 weeks, $5,500), and Aggression Camp (6 weeks, $6,600). All Board & Train packages include an optional e-collar, a two-hour go-home lesson, multiple follow-up lessons (3-6 depending on the program), a Powerhouse Slip Lead, and access to the Saturday morning Client Maintenance Class at no additional charge.

Private training options include Ten (10) Private Lessons for $1,750, meeting once per week (first lesson approximately 1.5 hours, subsequent lessons 1 hour). One on One Sessions are $900 for three 2-hour sessions or four 1.5-hour sessions.

Policies

For Board & Train reservations, there is approximately a one-month waitlist as of March 2024. Evaluations typically book out one to two weeks in advance. Texts and emails are usually responded to within 24-36 hours.

Required vaccines for board & train include up-to-date Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Parvo) or a titer test within the past six months, and Bordetella within the past six months. A veterinarian’s letter stating compliance with vaccine protocols is accepted for older dogs. Pets must be free of fleas and ticks upon entry. Medications and supplements can be accommodated.

JD’s Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp, owned and operated by Jose De Anda since 2016, offers professional K9 training in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, and surrounding cities. Jose, a former Animal Control Officer and Master Trainer, possesses a natural ability to understand dogs and specializes in rehabilitating problem dogs, including those with aggression issues. He emphasizes the human-canine connection, focusing on teaching owners to understand their dog’s language and build a positive relationship.

The training philosophy is built on “The ForceFree Method™” and “Pack Socialization Sessions,” where dogs learn from other dogs. Jose’s working pack of 9 dogs, including South African Boerboel, Cane Corso, Presa Canario, American bully, Korean Jindo, HOUND MIX, POINTER-PIT MIX, and two French Bulldogs, helps bring balance to dogs in need. Jose believes in motivation, structure, routine, and kindness, and his passion is for difficult cases that other trainers might refuse.

Accomplishments

Jose De Anda is the Owner/Master Trainer of JD’s Powerhouse K9 Bootcamp, established in 2016. He is a former Animal Control Officer and a Certified ForceFree Method™ Instructor, having studied with Marc Goldberg of Chicago Dog Training. Jose is also an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen® Evaluator.

His certifications and workshops include Pack2Basics Advanced Socialization Workshop, Pack2Basics Dogmanship Workshop, Jeff Gellman/Solid K9 RV Dog Training Seminar, and a 2-day Jay Jack Seminar on Tug, Spring Pole, Everything in Between & Weight Pull for Relationship Development. Jose co-founded Pit n’ Proud, a non-profit bully breed advocacy and education organization. He is locally recognized as an expert in rehabilitating high-risk aggression cases.

How to Get Started!
