JM Dog Training offers private training sessions tailored to individual dog and owner needs, suitable for new puppies, fear/aggression challenges, AKC Canine Good Citizen certification, and newly adopted dogs. Group classes include a Puppy Course for dogs under 6 months covering common behaviors like chewing, barking, potty training, jumping, and basic commands (sit, stay, down, intro to leash walking, come, drop it/leave it), while promoting socialization. The Adult Beginning class is for dogs over six months, focusing on basic commands and addressing common behaviors. An Advanced class is available for dogs with basic competency to improve consistency and skills, including heel, up, place, distance/prolonged stay, and circuit training. The AKC Canine Good Citizen class prepares dogs for the CGC test, which is included in the class price and certifies good manners, often serving as a prerequisite for therapy dog programs. Behavior modification services address issues such as nipping, chewing, leash reactivity, and aggression by understanding underlying motivations and using science-based protocols.
Testimonials
“Our new puppy went from being scared of us, Peeing himself when we were near and hiding in corners, to coming when I call, snuggling with me and playing all day long with his toys and our other dogs. He went from being the most sad soul I have ever met and transformed into a goofy and silly sweet boy. I accredit this to Jenny’s information and guidance. He was a very extreme situation and it took a different approach and a level of understanding to get him to the place he is in now.”
– Brenda P.
“Jenny provided a loving, secure, and engaging home environment for my newly adopted rescue dog while I was out of town. Jenny sent me daily updates/photos/videos of my pup and I was relieved to see he was being cared for by such a trustworthy and loving professional. My dog adores Jenny and is now going to begin dog training classes with her – he misses her and loves to learn from her!”
– Elizabeth T.
“Jenny was absolutely the best thing that has happened for our corgi. Within 2-3 appointments, our rabid dog that literally bit everything and scared my parents to death had literally transformed into the doggy we had always wanted.”
– Christohper X.
About the Trainer
JM Dog Training, led by Jenny Magill, is an expert dog trainer and behavioral consultant offering dog training and walking services. Jenny focuses on coaching and supporting owners, including those with disabilities training their service dogs, by improving communication and understanding between dogs and their owners. She emphasizes that everything an owner does communicates to their dog.
With over 13 years and thousands of hours of experience, Jenny utilizes positive reinforcement, a research-based technique that uses guidance and rewards instead of punishment or harsh corrections. This method aims to produce dogs that are eager to please, excited about training, and quick to learn, fostering a stronger, lasting bond.
Services include private training tailored to specific needs, group classes (Puppy Course, Adult Beginning, Advanced, and AKC Canine Good Citizen preparation), and behavior modification for issues like nipping, chewing, leash reactivity, and aggression. Jenny also provides dog walking services focused on loose-leash, fear-free walks that incorporate mental and physical exercise and good leash manners. Virtual/remote training sessions via Zoom are available for clients outside the immediate service area or worldwide.
