Testimonials

Thank you Nancy! You taught us how to teach our 6 month old rescue pup Georgie to sit, stay, leave it and heel. We never had a puppy always adult dogs. Your love of animals and your patience with them and people is outstanding! We appreciate you!

Thank you Nancy for your guidance and professionalism. D’Artagnan, mom and dad made great progress under your teaching. He continues to make progress as he has walked to the top of the street and along the paths in a much more relaxed manner. We know it will take a long time to help ease D’Artagnan’s anxiety but we feel confident with your training we are off to a good start.

Thank you again.
MaryAnne and Dave

Our 2 Havanese pups were having issues with barking and listening to our commands when out for walks. One of ours was especially hard to control. Nancy taught us so much in her 5 visits to our home. The change in our dogs’ behavior is amazing! They “heel” when outside and are so much better behaved. It’s like night and day! Very happy and highly recommended K-10! Nancy was so kind and we were so impressed at how she was able to adapt her methods if a new approach was needed for a particular issue. Our dogs enjoyed their training time and we’re all delighted with their new skills! Yes, our pups are delighted too! Much thanks, Nancy!

About the Trainer

K-10 Dog Training, owned and operated by Nancy LaFontaine, is a certified dog training business serving dog owners in Sussex and Kent Counties, DE, and occasionally parts of Maryland. Nancy offers both private in-home lessons and group classes held at the Concord Pet Food & Supply Store in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Her training focuses on positive reinforcement using food rewards, leadership establishment, and building focus between dog and owner. She specializes in obedience training, leash walking, behavior modification, and prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog programs. Nancy also provides public access training for service dogs and has experience working with serious behavioral issues, including aggression, through private sessions only. She emphasizes teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs using voice, tone, and hand signals. Her approach is described as balanced, proactive, and spirit-focused, aiming to reprogram negative behaviors into positive ones while keeping training fun. Nancy has been training since 2009 and has volunteered with the Sussex County SPCA and the Georgetown Sussex Correctional Institute’s dog training program to improve adoptability of shelter dogs.

Nancy offers phone consultations for owners seeking immediate guidance on behavioral issues. She also provides a guarantee that clients will receive the tools to follow through with training and achieve success with their dogs.

Group classes are ideal for socialization and distraction-proofing, while private sessions are required for aggression or serious behavioral concerns. Nancy adapts her methods to individual dogs and owners, and her clients report significant improvements in obedience, leash manners, and anxiety reduction.
