About the Trainer
K-9 Specialized Training and Consulting (K9STAC) is a full-service K-9 training facility specializing in highly trained Detection Dogs primarily for Law Enforcement Agencies. Founded by active Law Enforcement Sergeant David Dorn, K9STAC trains Police and Federal Detection Dog Teams, including Federal Protective Services, UC California Police, UC Berkeley PD, and various other Police and Sheriffs Departments.
K9STAC focuses on modern, progressive, and up-to-date techniques for canine selection, training, handler selection, training, and practical application of canine team deployments and supervision. They utilize the “On Target” Detection Dog method, ensuring canines are selected, pre-trained, and reliability tested to easily adapt to new handlers. David Dorn emphasizes that he will not certify a handler or canine he would not personally work with.
The mission of K9STAC is to provide effective, efficient, and reliable Canine Teams, ensuring agencies and handlers are confident and prepared for real-world deployments. In addition to K-9 training, David Dorn also owns and operates Delta Dog Camp, which offers dog boarding, doggie daycare, and training facilities in the East Bay of California. K9STAC also offers Pet First Aid/CPR classes for pet owners.
