K9 Development offers a variety of training programs that can be mixed and matched to suit different budgets, time constraints, and training goals. These include Group Classes, Private Lessons, Board N’ Train, Daycare, and Boarding.

Pet Dog Group Classes follow a “Kindergarten to College” step-by-step process, including K9 Elementary, K9 High, K9 College, E-Collar/Off Leash, and K9 Swim Lessons, each being a four-week course. Sport Dog Group Classes include Basic Nose Work and Advanced K9 Scent/Nose Work.

Private Lessons are one-on-one customized programs focusing on relationship development, socialization, obedience (including off-leash reliability), problem prevention/solving (anxieties, aggression, chewing, digging, etc.), general manners, and specialty training (tracking/trailing, detection, service dogs, competitive performance).

Board N’ Train programs allow dogs to stay at the facility for foundational training or advanced skill development. Daycare and Boarding services are training-based, focusing on maintaining or improving social skills, manners, and training while dogs are away from home. They also offer specialized programs for Working Dogs, including Live Find Area, Disaster, Human Remains Detection, Trailing, Electronics Detection, Firearms Detection, Bed Bug Detection, Conservation, Therapy, Wheelchair Assistance, Bracing, Medical Alert, PTSD, and Facility Dogs.

Testimonials

“After going through several other trainers, we finally found what we are looking for! Simply the best training on the most diverse subject matter.”
– F. Whyte

“The Owners are amazing. Not only are they fantastic with Dogs, but they teach their humans as well. Love this place.”
– D. Rodriguez-Ellsworth

“We completed the 4 Week Elementary, HS , and college training courses with our pup George. This is an excellent facility, the staff (Jack, Amy, Alex, Izzy, and others I may be forgetting) are extremely knowledgeable in dog behavior. The K9 team provide the necessary skills and tools to assist you in building a solid trusting relationship with your dog. I have recommended K9 to many people. I appreciate their patience and how well maintained the facility inside and out are kept. We also board at K9, our big guy George is always happy to return and we feel at ease knowing he is in a safe, clean environment with well-behaved dogs to enjoy his time away from home.”
– S. Ellis

About the Trainer

K9 Development offers professional dog training, boarding, and daycare services from their modern, environmentally controlled facility. They aim to create a sound and mentally balanced environment for all K9 guests, providing highly personalized care and training 24/7. Their programs are individually tailored to meet each dog’s specific needs, focusing on proper manners, social behavior, and enhancing the human-dog relationship based on mutual trust and respect.

With over 50 years of combined experience, the trainers at K9 Development have studied under leading authorities in training and behavior. They pride themselves on being a training-based facility that accepts all breeds and types of dogs, including intact dogs, and specializes in aggression and anxiety-based problems. Their unique approach ensures dogs leave with better habits, improved manners, social skills, and self-confidence.

The facility is climate-controlled with central heat, air conditioning, and radiant floors, providing Kuranda© dog beds for comfort. They maintain a quiet, tranquil environment by teaching dogs appropriate vocalization. Environmental enrichment is a key part of their program, offering activities like agility obstacles, seasonal livestock exposure, varied sound exposure, treat games, and ball/water play. They also incorporate corrections for inappropriate behavior to maintain a peaceful and balanced setting. Their kennels are spacious (almost 100 sq. ft.), designed for all types of dogs, and monitored 24/7.

Accomplishments

K9 Development has been in the industry for decades, with a solid reputation and a large volume of repeat business and referrals. Their professional dog trainers have a combined 50+ years of hands-on experience and have studied and trained under some of the world’s leading authorities on training and behavior. They have successfully trained owners and dogs for a wide range of goals since 1986.

They are a proud provider of boarding services for several Law Enforcement agencies, Wheelchair Assistance handlers, and Search and Rescue Teams from across the state. They have personally competed with dogs and helped clients reach high levels of competition in various dog sports. They have also built a reputation for helping “problem teams” get back on track over 25 years.

How to Get Started!

New dogs are required to undergo an evaluation before participating in boarding, daycare, or private lessons. This 30-minute (for boarding/daycare) or 1-hour (for private lessons) evaluation assesses the dog’s temperament, manners, and social skills to recommend the best program. Enrollment for group classes opens two weeks before the class start date, and clients can join a notification list to be emailed when enrollment begins. Clients can log in or create an account via ProPetware to book services.
