Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

K9 Instincts employs a balanced training philosophy that combines praise and correction to help dogs become well-behaved family members. The process begins with an initial consultation at their facility to evaluate the dog’s temperament and understand the dynamic between the dog and owner. This allows them to customize a training program tailored to each unique dog’s upbringing, attitude, and home environment.

They offer intensive board and train programs, with durations such as 3-week or 30-day stays, as indicated by client testimonials. For dogs that have completed a past training program with K9 Instincts, refresher training is available during boarding visits to reinforce learned behaviors.

Testimonials

“Professional dog training! Amazing results. Very informative with teaching us how to properly interact with our pooch. Highly recommend K-9 Instincts!”
– Rod Dubay

“That’s our Luna in the picture. She has been in “down” and “stay” for about 20 minutes!I am absolutely floored by the incredible training K9 did with our puppy. She is a wild 1 year old puppy who now has a stronger and more confident foundation to navigate the world. She came to us a VERY nervous puppy who wouldn’t be in the same room as other people. Now, we have hope that she will be more social with our family and friends.Incredibly professional and caring staff. We are overjoyed with our choice to work with K9. We love Britt ”

“Shout out to K-9 instincts for helping my 8 month-old German Shepherd adolescent with some much needed manners. Monty was difficult to control, didn’t know his own strength, was stubborn, driven, often reactive, and he really struggled to settle down. I think he really wanted to be a good boy, but just didn’t know how. In his 3 week stay with K-9, Brit, Emily, and Matt transformed Monty to a point where he was focused and mindful of his place in our home. Although much follow-up work needed to be done after he returned home and we continue to train and correct inappropriate behaviors, Monty is in our control at all times and that is a necessity when you want to have a balanced and calm household. Not only did they give us a great starting point, but they have been phenomenal about taking follow up questions. They don’t just give you your dog back and say “good luck”. They are invested in your dog’s success and their follow through is much appreciated. I know I can call them in a year if I have a question and they will help me. Doggy owners still have to do the work to train in the months after the board and train, but with consistency and the knowledge received from the K-9 instincts team, you will have a well-behaved dog you can be proud of. I would recommend this company highly and I feel it was well worth the money invested to have a happy dog we can take anywhere.”
– Shannon Cuthill
