K9mutt Training offers various programs including Beginners/Intermediate Classes, Advanced Classes, “Only the Nose Knows” scenting classes, Home Visits, Group Training, and Private Lessons. Classes are typically 7 weeks long and cost $99. Beginners/Intermediate classes focus on positive reinforcement to build good behavior foundations and understanding between dog and owner. Advanced classes are for dogs that know the basics and require prior approval. “Only the Nose Knows” teaches scenting basics, tracking, and reading dog body language. Home visits address specific issues, and group training is available for groups of 4 or more teams. Classes can be registered through McLennan Community College or developed per request.

About the Trainer

K9mutt Training, led by Sandy Wittliff, offers positive reinforcement-based behavior and obedience training for dogs. The business aims to help dog owners communicate better with their pets and build positive relationships, believing that “there are no bad dogs only misunderstood dogs.”

Sandy Wittliff has extensive experience with various dog breeds and adheres to a training philosophy that uses no shock, no pain, and no fear for the dog. She trains companion dogs, therapy dogs, and service dogs.

K9mutt Training also works with a number of rescues, offering free training to adopted dogs to help them get a good start in their new homes and reduce returns. Sandy also tests and advises rescues on suitable dogs for adoption and appropriate family placements. She emphasizes the importance of understanding a dog’s body language and teaching children to respect a dog’s space to prevent issues.

Accomplishments

Sandy Wittliff is the President of Angel Paws, a premier animal assisted therapy organization in Waco and an affiliate of Pet Partners. She is a certified instructor and evaluator for Pet Partners (Badge #50099 IV & TE). She is also a Certified Humane Education Specialist through the Humane Society of America, a member of the International Association of Assistance Dog Partners (IAADP), and a GAP (Gifted Animal Placement) Level 1 Diagnostician. She is also a member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG).

For classes, registration is done through McLennan Community College by calling 254-299-8888 or visiting their continuing education website.
