Kai’s Obedience LLC

Kai’s Obedience offers a variety of training programs for all breeds and ages. Puppy Class is for puppies aged 8 to 18 weeks, focusing on compliance, responsibility, loose leash walking, and basic commands like sit and down, with AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Testing available.

Obedience Class teaches skills for real-life situations, including meet and greets, loose leash walking in any direction, sit-stay and down-stay, and recall with distractions, with AKC CGC and CGCA Testing available. Advanced Class, a prerequisite to Obedience Class, polishes skills and introduces advanced handling and competition training, with AKC CGCU Testing available.

The “Bringing Home Baby” program is an add-on to Puppy or Obedience classes, designed to help dogs respect a baby’s area and belongings. Private Training offers one-on-one lessons to address specific issues or achieve particular goals, with costs determined after an evaluation.

Specialization classes are available based on interest, including Conformation, AKC Obedience, AKC Rally, AKC Trick Dog, AKC Fetch, Therapy dog training, and Weight pull. The “Day with a Trainer” program is a 4-hour intensive session for those with scheduling conflicts or traveling from afar, covering attention, healing, sits/downs, and navigating crowds. Boarded Training is a tailor-made off-site program where the head trainer personally trains the dog or puppy, including two private lessons and one group lesson for the owner.

Pricing Summary

The cost and number of lessons for private training are uniquely determined based on an evaluation of the dog’s difficulty, the owner’s ability, and the specific goals. There are no “ballpark” or “usual” costs, as prices vary case by case. Payments are accepted via cash, Venmo (Kais-Training), and checks (Kai’s Obedience). Debit or credit cards are also accepted with a 3% pass-through fee.

Accomplishments

Derrick Honore, the Head Trainer and Owner, is a certified graduate of the Tom Rose School of Dog Training, with over 20 years of experience in the competition circuit. He has owned, trained, and shown the youngest Alaskan Malamute to achieve the Companion Dog title in breed history, consistently scoring high. He also trained and showed two of the highest-scoring Alaskan Malamutes in novice obedience for three consecutive years, as well as two of the youngest Malamutes to earn Rally titles.

Shelly Haws, a member of the Support Team, has earned many AKC Obedience and Rally titles with her Australian Labradoodle, Tucker. In 2020, she and Tucker became a certified Therapy Dog Team through Therapy Dogs International, with Tucker holding titles including CD, PCD, BN, RA, CGCA, CGCU, and TKN.

To get started, clients can schedule a free initial consultation. This involves filling out an online form with required information such as their name, email, phone number, dog’s name and age, dog’s breed and weight, the type of training they are interested in, their goals, city of residence, and how they heard about Kai’s Obedience. After submitting the form, clients will be directed to choose their consultation day and time.
