Kaye Ames People Training For Dogs offers private and group lessons for all levels of training, problem-solving, and educational seminars. Classes include Puppy Obedience, Small Dog Obedience, Advanced Puppy And Small Dog Obedience, New Puppy Care and Training 101 – STAR Puppy, Basic Obedience, Intermediate Obedience – Canine Good Citizen, Advanced Obedience / Beginner Rally and Novice Tricks, Rally Obedience (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Excellent), Performance Fundamentals Training, AKC Canine Good Citizen, Introduction to Scent Work, and Intermediate and Advanced Scent Work.

Most group classes are 5-week or 6-week programs, with each lesson lasting 45 minutes, once a week. Private consultations are available only to existing students and are held at their Lancaster facility, not in-home. They do not accept aggression cases for private consultations.

Pricing Summary

Advanced Puppy And Small Dog Obedience costs $100 for a 5-week program. Basic Obedience classes with Laurie or Teri, Puppy Obedience, and Small Dog Obedience classes are $130 for 5 weeks. The New Puppy Care and Training 101 – STAR Puppy class is $130 for 6 weeks. Payment for some classes (Laurie, Teri, STAR Puppy) is by cash or check only and is due at the first class.

Kaye Ames People Training For Dogs has been dedicated to helping dogs raise their people since 1962. Their focus is on building strong relationships based on trust, understanding, and fun. All classes are taught using the most up-to-date positive and motivational methods, along with a clear understanding of how dogs learn. They help foster a bond and connection between owners and their dogs to grow into lifelong companions.

They provide private and group lessons for all levels of training, problem-solving for all dogs, and educational seminars and events. The business also has a history with dog grooming, with Kaye Ames having been a dog groomer for 50 years and her daughter Tammy operating Sharp Dogs by Tammy, continuing the family grooming business for over 76 years.

Accomplishments

Kaye Ames, Founder & Owner, has been counseling and teaching dogs since 1962. Her accomplishments include being a veterinary assistant for 5 years, a lecturer on canine behavior, a guest on TV programs, a dog show handler for over 32 different breeds, a breeder and owner of top-winning German Shorthaired Pointers and Rottweilers, a member and officer of various dog-related organizations, a dog groomer for 50 years, and a problem solver for top show dogs and pets across the U.S.

Instructors Andrea Farris has taught for over 50 years and has competed in obedience and Rally Obedience. Bobbi Dochat has over 50 years of experience with rescue dogs and has earned titles in rally obedience and competed in formal obedience and agility. Deb Radanovic has earned titles in Agility and Rally, passed the ORT for Scent Work, is a Delta Pet Partner Therapy Dog, and was a CGC Instructor & Evaluator.

Julie Cramer is an AKC Lure Coursing judge, AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and AKC Breeder of Merit. Laurie Piaskowski is a retired small animal veterinary technician of 28 years, and her reactive dog Mowgli has competed in many dog sports including agility, dock diving, obedience, lure coursing, nose work, Rally Obedience, and trick training. Tina Hall’s dogs have participated in rally, trick training, lure coursing, barn hunt, and sheep herding, and her dog Keuka is a certified therapy dog.

Tammy Rottmund, Kaye’s daughter, showed German Shorthaired Pointers and English Pointers in conformation and operated the family grooming shop for over 76 years. Teri Palmer has extensive education in biochemistry, psychology, and behavioral endocrinology, has developed behavior shaping programs for children and canines, and has competitively shown Chow Chows, Miniature Poodles, Tibetan Terriers, and Akitas, judging dock diving events for NADD/AKC and Ultimate Air Dog/UKC. Lynn Middleton has earned multiple titles in AKC, CPE, NADAC, and NADD-Dock diving with her German Shorthaired Pointers and Weimaraner, including conformation championships, Master Agility Championship, RAE in Rally obedience, and Trick dog title, and has a certificate in Canine Fitness and Nutrition from CASI institute. Jane Benton has trained and earned AKC titles in Agility, Rally, and Obedience with her Pomeranians.

For classes, sign up online via a form on the class page, providing your name, email, phone, dog’s name, breed, age, requested start date/time, and previous classes taken. Payment for some classes (Laurie, Teri, STAR Puppy) is cash or check only, due at the first class. For private consultations, fill out a contact form with your details and the issue you hope to work on, and Kaye Ames will schedule an appointment.
