Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ primarily positive with mild corrections
Kind To Canines offers a variety of training programs including Puppy Training, In-Home Training, In-Kennel Training, Day-Training, Problem Solving, and Behavior Modification. Puppy training focuses on solving basic behavior issues like house-soiling, jumping, chewing, and nipping, along with proper socialization methods and basic obedience commands, emphasizing the critical learning period between eight and sixteen weeks of age.
Day Training is a weekly program where dogs are dropped off at the facility for professional training and socialization with other dogs. At the end of the day, owners receive a 30-minute training lesson and homework. In-Home Training allows owners to be hands-on, while In-Kennel Training aims for 100% obedience in all commands.
Boarding services integrate training and socialization throughout the day, ensuring dogs are mentally and physically stimulated. The business also provides specialized services such as Canine Good Citizenship training, preparation for therapy dog testing, training for children and their dogs, and guidance for expecting mothers on dog-baby bonding.
Testimonials
“Dan…just want to thank you for the training you gave Kurt for the week he was with you. He came home very subdued (tired) from all his play. We have kept up with the heeling command and he walks like a different dog. Very much conditioned against being distracted by outside noises, dogs, or distractions.”
– Jack & Fred
“Thanks for your perseverance with Rebel. We certainly appreciate your dedication to your field. I think any other trainer would have deemed her a hopeless case!”
– Zoe
“Matt and I would like to thank you so much for what you have accomplished with Scotty. We can’t believe he is the same dog! We are more than happy with the results of his training. We know how much work it was for you and we are extremely appreciative of that. It is very obvious that you are dedicated to what you do. You treated Scotty as if he was your own and made us feel comfortable about everything during the three weeks he spent with you. We are grateful that it was you that trained him! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

About the Trainer
Kind To Canines, established in 1996, offers dog training, boarding, and grooming services in Orange County, California. Initially focusing on obedience training, the business expanded in 2001 to include behavior modification and problem-solving with the opening of its own training facility.
The founder, Dan, has extensive experience, having started at a veterinary hospital at age 18, managing kennel facilities, and working as an animal and orthopedic technician before founding Kind To Canines. The facility is designed to house twelve dogs overnight and five dogs for day-training, featuring indoor/outdoor temperature-controlled runs powered by solar energy, accommodating dogs from 2 to 200 pounds.
The facility utilizes Easy Turf in its training and exercise yards, which is a synthetic grass designed for cleanliness and joint comfort for dogs. Boarding services emphasize mental and physical stimulation, with all boarding dogs receiving training and socialization throughout the day.
Grooming services allow dogs to be pampered while also enjoying a day of play and socialization, avoiding prolonged crating. The grooming uses primarily green and eco-friendly products, with Tye Persing serving as the certified groomer for over 10 years.
Additional services include Pre Puppy Home Set Ups, Canine Good Citizenship Training (as an accredited facility), Training With Children and Their Dogs, Preparation For Therapy Dog Testing, and Working With Expecting Mothers to ensure dog-baby bonding.
Accomplishments
Dan, the founder of Kind To Canines, began his career at age 18 as a kennel worker and bather at Back Bay Veterinary Hospital. Within two years, he advanced to managing the kennel facilities. He pursued further education at Long Beach State and The National Institute Of Dog Training, becoming an animal and orthopedic technician specializing in total hip replacement surgeries for dogs.
Kind To Canines was established in 1996 and is recognized as an accredited training facility capable of conducting Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) testing.
