Dog Training Methodology

K&O Dog Training offers several programs designed to help owners train and bond with their dogs. They emphasize teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their pets.

Puppy Training is a 6-week, one-on-one course with 1-hour sessions per week, held in a private area to ensure puppy health. It covers obedience commands like Sit, Stay, Free, Down, Come, Gentle, and Focus, along with socialization, desensitization work, and tips on crate training, potty training, and biting inhibition. This program allows training to begin from day one, even for young, unvaccinated puppies.

One-on-One Training includes an evaluation followed by four tailored sessions designed for a dog’s specific needs. This program welcomes dogs of all ages and breeds and can address behavioral issues such as anxiety, dog reactivity, and confidence training. It is also a suitable option for dogs that struggle to concentrate in group environments.

Group Training is a 6-week course that meets once a week for one hour in the Temescal Valley, CA area. This popular program covers obedience training, desensitization, socialization, leash training, and confidence building. An evaluation is recommended for owners unsure if their dog would thrive in a group setting.

Pack Walks are group walks with multiple dogs and owners, open to everyone. These walks are not just for exercise but also include practicing obedience training and offering help with leash walking.

Policies

For Pack Walks, if a dog is deemed a distraction or safety issue, owners may be asked to schedule a private one-on-one lesson before attending future pack walks. For more severe behavioral cases, K&O Dog Training may recommend meeting with a dog behaviorist during the evaluation.
