Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training
  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Koda K-9 Academy offers two main program types: Private Training and Board and Train. Private Training involves one-on-one weekly sessions, each lasting up to an hour. These customized programs educate owners on their dog’s behavior and how to motivate them, layering new techniques and skills weekly, with owner practice at home being essential. Private lessons can cover puppy training, basic and advanced obedience, dog training for kids, and AKC Certifications.

The Board and Train program is an intensive training retreat offered in 2, 3, or 4-week sessions, where dogs lodge overnight at the trainer’s home in Jonesborough, TN. Each dog receives an individualized training plan through one-on-one sessions, group sessions with other board and train students, and off-site training for real-world experience. Owner education is a critical component, with two private lessons scheduled during the program, a family visit halfway through, and a “Take-Home” session at pick-up to ensure owners are prepared. This program also includes six months of post-training support via text, phone, and in-person follow-ups.
