Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • Food Rewards

L.A. School for Dogs offers several distinct training programs. The “Puppy Head Start (Privately)” program is for puppies aged 10 weeks to 6 months, including 3.5 hours of private lessons, unlimited phone and email support, handouts, and video instruction. This program covers house rules, potty and crate training, introduction to basic commands (sit, lay-down, come, drop, watch me, leash walking), and addresses issues like jumping, biting, chewing, stealing, and greeting others. The “Pre-School Drop Off (Daily)” is also for puppies 10 weeks to 6 months, designed to jump-start potty training, socialization, and introductory training.

For dogs over 6 months, the “Proven Three-Week Program (Drop-Off)” is a popular, positively-based daily drop-off program for owners who desire a superior obedience solution or problem-solving but have time constraints. The “Six-Week Program (Privates)” consists of 6 one-hour private sessions at their location, tailored for “do-it-yourself-ers” who prefer a hands-on approach and can work with their dog at least twice daily. An “Online University” provides access to Jennifer Mann’s lesson plans and training videos, with Zoom or FaceTime sessions available, particularly for those living more than 50 miles from the school. “Off Leash Training” is available for dogs over 12 months, requiring prior completion of one of their signature obedience courses (Privates or 3-Week Program) and approval.

“I’ve had dogs all my life. From here on out I will always bring all my dogs to Jen! I have an 8 month old pug/ frenchie mix that had alot of energy and now after training she walks well on a leash, is super mellow yet still playful and a love to be around. That is all due to Jen! It really is the perfect place for your dog!”

About the Trainer

L.A. School for Dogs is a professional dog and puppy training business founded by Jennifer Mann, who is also the creator of the “Mann’s Best” dog training programs. They offer both in-person and online training options, aiming to provide results in as little as three weeks.

Their training philosophy is balanced, utilizing a variety of techniques to suit each dog’s unique personality, breeding, and size. They focus on transitioning dogs off treats by the end of their programs, with exceptions for severe fear or aggression issues.

The business provides training for basic through advanced obedience in various social settings, puppy training, potty training, socialization with people and other dogs, one-on-one training for both dogs and humans, and off-leash training. They also address common problem behaviors such as barking, chewing, digging, jumping up, pulling on leash, aggression, fear, and separation anxiety. Programs can be seamlessly integrated or customized to meet specific dog and family needs.
