Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Landshark K9 offers a range of training programs tailored to individual needs. The Puppy Training Clinic is for puppies under 16 weeks, consisting of two one-hour in-home classes covering basic handling, common behavior problems, basic obedience, housebreaking, socialization, and nutrition.
Obedience training is offered at basic and advanced levels. Basic obedience focuses on essential skills for safety and responsible dog ownership. Advanced obedience, for dogs who have mastered basic skills, includes hand commands with distractions in noisy public environments, crowds, and around other animals, aiming for full on- and off-leash control.
Behavior modification addresses unwanted behaviors such as aggressive reactions, anxiety issues, resource guarding, jumping on people, and barking problems. They work to identify the root cause of aggressive reactions (e.g., abuse, fear, lack of training) and teach owners how to redirect behaviors and address triggers.
For working dogs, Landshark K9 provides multiple levels of protection training, including personal protection, police-style patrol K9 training, commercial area guard dog training, and protection maintenance. They also offer boarding services for short getaways or as a “school” to jumpstart training, and provide puppy/dog sales when available. Custom packages are available for specific concerns or needs.

About the Trainer
Landshark K9 offers professional dog training services focused on preparing dogs for real-world situations, whether for protection and patrol K9s or for well-mannered family pets. They pride themselves on improving the quality of life for both dogs and their owners by tailoring training to individual goals.
With over 10 years of working experience, Landshark K9 has trained a wide variety of dogs, from 8-week-old puppies to commercially employed area guard dogs. They believe all dogs, regardless of age, can benefit from training, even if it’s just basic obedience and socialization.
Their services include puppy selection, puppy training clinics, basic and advanced obedience classes, and behavior modification for issues like aggression, anxiety, resource guarding, jumping, and barking. They also specialize in various levels of protection training, including personal protection, police-style patrol K9 training, and commercial area guard dog training. Additionally, Landshark K9 provides boarding services for short stays or as part of a training program, and offers puppy/dog sales when available. They emphasize teaching owners how to redirect unwanted behaviors and address potential triggers, aiming for dogs that are trusting and confident in any environment.
Accomplishments
The owner and CEO, Dee, has over 20 years of learning experience, with 10 years of working experience in dog training. He spent two years studying under a retired K9 officer and master dog handler/trainer in Virginia. During this time, he gained experience as a kennel manager, handled and trained detection and patrol K9s, worked with difficult cases of reactive pets, and led group obedience classes with 2-15 dogs and their handlers.
