Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Leader of the Pack’s dog training programs are designed to educate humans and teach dogs appropriate behaviors in a positive manner. They offer Private In-home Training to target specific problem behaviors, which are addressed in the home environment where they manifest.

For common non-aggressive behaviors like jumping, play biting, leash pulling, excessive barking, and house soiling, they offer a two-part initial in-home program. They also help with more serious behaviors including fear aggression, dominance aggression, food aggression, territorial aggression, and separation anxiety, starting with an initial two-hour visit followed by a customized program.

Their In-Home Puppy Preschool is for puppies up to 16 weeks old, focusing on preventing unwanted behaviors by teaching pups to be well-mannered family members and educating owners on housebreaking, crate training, nipping, chewing, and jumping.

Their Doggy Dayschool is a kennel-free program that incorporates training into daily activities, teaching basic manners such as no jumping on humans, no barking at guests, playing nicely, no humping, no indoor accidents, and sitting before entering/exiting doors and for treats. The facility includes two large secured outside play areas, an outside deck, a large inside play room, a ‘quiet time’ room, and separate feeding areas. All dogs must pass a temperament test, be spayed/neutered if over six months, and have current vaccinations.

Pricing & Policies

Testimonials

“Simply put we refer to Karen as ‘The Dog Whisperer ‘. She is quite magical indeed. We have two English Bulldog puppies, brothers. I’ve always heard that of all breeds, English Bulldogs are very difficult to train. We now beg to differ. We feel quite fortunate to have found her. She helped us to better understand the whole dynamic of how dogs communicate and their associated behaviors. She educated us so that we could, in turn, work with and teach our puppies. We also had been experiencing some dominance aggression with one of the boys. With her guidance we were able to turn it around completely and know how to handle it properly and effectively AND without being too aggressive on our parts, which is a big plus! Karen is both personable and professional, a perfect balance. We were impressed with her logical approach to training. Everything she presents makes complete sense. We have a tremendous amount of respect for her and her skills. We will whole heartedly recommend Karen and Leader of the Pack, to anyone and everyone we know that has a dog, new or old.”

“I am writing to thank you and tell you how my dog Harry (a five year old cairn terrier) loves going to Doggy Daycare at Leader of the Pack. Harry knows when we go to daycare. All I have to say is “Daycare” and Harry is ready to go. Harry knows he will get the best attention from you. He also enjoys going outside in your fenced in area and he loves to play with the toys and other dogs. As you know, Harry was adopted over two years ago. Prior to attending a private training session and taking Harry to your Daycare, he was a very nervous and timid dog. He never played, did not like to socialize and was always tense around people and other dogs. Today he is a just the opposite. With your help, I learned how to change my relationship with Harry and develop a great bond with my dog. I feel very confident leaving Harry with you and highly recommend you to other dog owners.”

“Karen Williams has been a great help to me with my 2 Tibetan Terriers. With a very gentle manner she sized up the situation and took control. Both dogs, which I had described as “beasts”, were perfectly mannered under her command. She explained that the dogs were not stupid, but that I was confusing them with my lack of consistency. I would highly recommend Leader of the Pack to any family who wants a well mannered pet.”
