About the Trainer
Leaps and Bounds Agility Center is a dog agility training facility in Houston, TX, offering group and private agility lessons taught by professional instructors with decades of competition experience. The center focuses on positive reinforcement methods to create a fun, safe, and supportive environment for dog-handler teams, whether they train for fun or compete at high levels. Classes are structured in progressive levels—Beginning, Intermediate I and II, Novice, and Competition—each building on prior skills with emphasis on verbal commands, body cues, and obstacle proficiency. The facility features two outdoor agility rings and is staffed by experienced instructors who have earned national and international titles in AKC, USDAA, UKI, NADAC, and ASCA. Instructors tailor training to individual teams, accommodating all breeds, sizes, and experience levels, from puppies to senior dogs.
The center has been operating since 1998 and is led by long-time agility pioneers who have trained hundreds of dogs and handlers. Many instructors have competed with multiple breeds including Shelties, Border Collies, Golden Retrievers, Corgis, and Jack Russell Terriers, and have earned championships, Grand Championships, MACHs, NATCHs, and ADCH titles. The community atmosphere is highly praised, with clients noting the friendly, dedicated staff and strong sense of camaraderie among members.
Instructors also bring additional expertise in related sports like Rally, Herding, Scentwork, Dock Diving, and Fast CAT, and some offer trigger point massage therapy for canine performance. The center supports both recreational and competitive goals, helping handlers build confidence and strong bonds with their dogs through structured, reward-based training.
