Legacy Retrievers offers a variety of training programs tailored to different needs and ages. Their **Obedience Training** includes several courses for medium and large breeds, starting with a Puppy Imprint Obedience Program (3-5 months old) focusing on socialization and treat-oriented on-leash obedience. Formal obedience courses are available for dogs 5-6 months and older, including Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels for both on-leash and off-leash commands, with options for whistle obedience and e-collar conditioning. Private Obedience Lessons are also available at their kennel.
The **Right Start Puppy Program** (8 weeks to 6 months) prepares young pups for future working retriever roles by exposing them to marks, gunners, decoys, live/dead birds, gunfire, informal obedience, heavy cover, water, loading up, and crate training. This program can be customized for gun dogs, hunt tests, or field trials.
For retrievers, they offer **Basic Gun Dog** training, a 4-month program covering obedience, force fetch, consistent retrieves, and exposure to various hunting scenarios like water and field work, decoys, and gunfire. The **Advanced Gun Dog** program, lasting 7-10 months, aims to produce a finished gundog capable of marking and retrieving multiple birds, running blinds on land and water, honoring other dogs, and handling diversion birds.
Their **Hunt Test Training** program is designed for owners who want their dogs to compete in AKC and/or UKC Hunting Test programs, as well as be finished hunting companions. This program progresses through Junior, Senior, and Master levels, building from single retrieves and basic steadiness to triples, quads, long technical blinds, and advanced marking setups. All monthly training programs include boarding and food.
