About the Trainer
Founded in April 2022 by Alex Liggett, Liggett Dog Training, LLC helps dogs and their owners in Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties enjoy life together through personalized dog training and behavior modification. Alex, a former veterinary professional and Master’s of Social Work student, started training after successfully rehabilitating her own reactive pitbull mix, Razz, using positive, hands-on methods. She offers puppy training, obedience, and behavior modification services, with a strong focus on helping owners understand their dogs’ needs through education and practical tools. Alex combines her background in animal behavior with empathy and communication skills learned from therapy work to support families in building stronger bonds with their pets. She also provides free 20-minute phone consultations to assess each dog’s needs before beginning training.
In addition to private and group training, Alex offers downloadable ebooks, training printables, and an Amazon storefront with recommended gear. Her blog features practical advice on puppy biting, chewing, leash training, and recall, making her a valuable resource for dog owners seeking evidence-based, real-world solutions. She trains dogs of all ages and sizes, with special expertise in reactivity, biting, and resource guarding.
