Testimonials

I have been working with Lily for almost 2 years. She is a gifted dog trainer and my pup and I are very lucky to have her guidance and expertise. She is great 1:1 and also offers helpful group classes.
I highly recommend lily to anyone that is looking for great dog trainer in the bay area to set themselves and their dog with a good foundation!

It has been wonderful working with Lily in our 1:1 training sessions. She breaks down problem behaviors in smaller easier to tackle patterns and offered creative solutions. We were working on reactivity, leash communications and basic obedience.

About the Trainer

Lily Ray Dog Training is a positive reinforcement-based dog training business led by head trainer Lily, who began her journey in dog rescue and has since expanded her expertise through seminars, online courses, and hands-on experience with diverse breeds. She offers personalized training programs including 1:1 sessions, day training, board and train, group classes, and virtual training to help dog owners build strong, respectful relationships with their pets. Lily emphasizes clear communication, dog-centered pacing, and client involvement—even during board and train programs—ensuring skills transfer back home. She also provides pack walks for existing clients and offers training resources, a blog, and a shop for supplementary tools. Her approach is rooted in the belief that dogs do the best they can with the environment and education they’ve been given.

Lily and her assistant trainer Tea bring extensive experience from rescue, veterinary settings, and competitive dog sports, including AKC obedience, scent work, and barn hunt. They specialize in behavior modification for reactivity, leash issues, and fearfulness, while also supporting obedience, CGC certification, and competition training. Their facility-based and mobile services prioritize safety, transparency, and individualized plans tailored to each dog’s needs.

Lily trains her own Belgian Malinois in competitive sports, demonstrating her deep commitment to both professional excellence and practical, real-world application of training methods.

Accomplishments

Lily is a certified Canine Good Citizen (CGC), CGC Advanced (CGCA), CGC Urban (CGCU), and Trick Dog evaluator. She competes with her Belgian Malinois in AKC obedience, scent work, and barn hunt, and is working toward her CD title in obedience. She has trained with accomplished trainers, attended numerous seminars, and continues ongoing education in dog behavior and training.

How to Get Started!

Prospective clients begin with a 1-2 hour initial evaluation to assess the dog’s behavior, goals, and needs. Clients are advised to bring a flat collar, harness, treats, and a 3-6 foot leash. After the evaluation, a customized training plan is created and pricing is discussed.
