Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
Lisa’s K-9 Kids offers a structured curriculum divided into “Grades” for progressive obedience training. The 1st Grade – Puppy course (8-16 weeks) focuses on domestication, housebreaking, crate training, name recognition, recall, biting, desensitization, and leash walking. The 2nd Grade – Beginner class (4-6 months) teaches basic commands, attention, and distraction management, preparing dogs for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Award.
The 3rd Grade – Intermediate class (over 6 months, requires basic commands) advances obedience for real-world application, focusing on manners and etiquette, and prepares for AKC Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine tests. The 4th Grade – Advanced class (1 year+, requires basic/intermediate commands) focuses on off-leash control and continued skill development. Additionally, the business offers Rally I & II courses, an AKC sport utilizing obedience commands in a course format, and a Therapy – Public Access course designed for dogs at least 1.5 years old with a CGC title, focusing on public comfort, safety, trust-building, and preparing for AKC Therapy Dog Team and Service Dog Public Access requirements. Most group courses are 6 or 8 weeks long, with classes meeting twice a week or bi-weekly.
