Nosy Puppers Dog Training offers a comprehensive curriculum structured into six progressive levels: Puppy/Beginner, AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Intermediate, Environmental Cues, AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), and Therapy Dog.

The Puppy/Beginner class is 7 weeks long, starting with 2 weeks without the dog (Intro to Dogs & Markers) and 5 weeks with the dog, covering Focus, Sit, Down, Come, Loose Leash Walking, potty training, jumping, barking, and leash pulling. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is Level Two, an 8-week program preparing for the CGC exam, focusing on duration markers, handling, Leave It, advanced Loose Leash Walking, Come, and Wait.

Intermediate classes, 7 weeks long, focus on Heeling (advanced loose leash walking) and Long Stays, beneficial for reactive dogs. Environmental Cues, Level Two of Intermediate, teaches dogs to respond to subtle environmental signals like automatic sits, settling, waiting at doors, and finding their spot. Advanced classes include AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), an 8-week program covering 10 evaluations for well-behaved dogs, and Therapy Dog, a 7-week class focusing on human-dog interactions and emotional intelligence for therapy work.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Group classes are generally $200 for 7 weeks, with a cash price of $195 via Venmo or Zelle. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class is 8 weeks for $232 ($225 cash), excluding AKC fees. The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) class is 8 weeks for $273 ($265 cash), also excluding AKC fees. Therapy Dog classes are $200 for 7 weeks ($195 cash), with certification exams at an additional cost through a chosen organization.

Private lessons at their Fairfield facility cost $150 per session, or $800 for a package of six. In-home private lessons within a 20-minute radius are $225 per session, or $1200 for a package of six. Prong collar lessons are $150 per private session. Payment options include Zelle, Venmo (friend-to-friend to Lisa Marsnik at 412-735-5594), or credit card via class-specific links.

Policies

Nosy Puppers has a strict no-refund policy for all paid reservations, including group classes and makeup lessons, as spots are non-transferable and cannot be resold once booked. Makeup lessons are available for $35 each, must be scheduled in advance (no 5-minute notifications), and are limited to one per level, requiring completion before the next continuous class.

For vaccinations, dogs need current DAPP (Distemper/Parvo combination) and Rabies vaccines, verified by a vet receipt. Puppies require three legitimate DAPP shots by the third week of Puppy/Beginner class, and breeder cards without vaccine vial labels are not accepted. Incomplete vaccinations will result in non-participation without a refund.

Payment confirms class enrollment, which is limited to four dogs per level, so prompt payment is advised. Classes are held in the Parkway Community Church parking lot in Fairfield, which can be cooler due to a microclimate. In cases of extreme weather (heat, cold, rain), classes are canceled and rescheduled for the following week, adjusting the overall timeline.

Testimonials

“Lisa is an amazing trainer, I love her approach with creating a communication path for you and your dog, it all seems so simple but so efficient, no more yelling! . We went with our rescue adult Dogo who is very stubborn. Lisa showed me how to communicate with our dog, her feedback is direct and honest and if you listen and practice, you will see amazing and fast results. The benefit of the group is that you get to see her show the commands multiple times with different dogs, all of them reacting differently. Her first session around nutrition, crate training, potty training is so eye opening, and informative, I have referred to it many times since. Lisa will answer texts, calls and will do anything to get you and your dog on a successful path. And if you are lucky enough to see her with her dogs, you will see the art of the possible!”
– Stephanie D.

“Lisa is a very efficient trainer for a person who is willing to learn. She can be very strict, but I assure you, you will be the best dog trainer to your fur babies after several sessions with Lisa. The program she has was enjoyable, and I learned a lot from it. She is the best trainer that I’ve ever worked with and I can’t thank her enough for being patient, encouraging and inspiring!”
– Anne S.

“I can’t say enough good things about Lisa! When we adopted our husky rescue, we quickly realized that he had some serious behavior issues that we didn’t know how to address. We were at our wits’ end and considering rehoming him, until we found Lisa. From the very first class, she put us at ease and gave us the tools we needed to work with our dog. Over the course of four progressive training programs, Lisa helped us train our dog and improve his behavior in ways we never thought possible. Her approach is firm but gentle, and she clearly knows what she’s doing. Thanks to Lisa, we are now much more confident and educated dog owners, and our dog is a completely different animal. He’s well-behaved, obedient, and a joy to be around. We’re are now gearing up to take the good canine citizen test! I have no doubt that our pup will pass with flying colors. I would recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a dog trainer – she’s simply the best!”
– Ryan F.
