Lucky Dog Sports Club of the Wiregrass

Lucky Dog Training Academy offers both group classes and in-home “Doggy Home School” programs. Group classes include AKC STAR Puppy (for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months), Manners/Obedience 1 (basic manners and obedience for dogs 6 months and older or STAR Puppy graduates), Obedience 2 and 3 (advanced competitive obedience skills), Therapy Dog Prep, Rally Obedience, Tricks, Out For A Walk (loose leash walking), and Sniffy Sports (scent work introduction and advanced levels). Most group classes run for 6 weeks, with some exceptions.

Doggy Home School provides intensive, personalized training in the client’s home. Programs range from 2 to 4 weeks, with the trainer working with the dog 3 days a week, even while the owner is away. Each week concludes with a session where the trainer teaches the owner how to maintain and build upon the learned behaviors. Programs are tailored for problem-solving, basic manners, or advanced obedience.

Pricing Summary

Group classes generally cost $165 for 6 weeks, with some variations like AKC STAR Puppy at $165, Manners/Obedience 1 at $180 (includes a mat), and Therapy Dog Prep at $135 for 4 weeks. Sniffy Sports Level 1 is $145 for 4 weeks, and Sniffy Sports Level 2 is $165 for 6 weeks.

Doggy Home School programs include a $60 initial consultation, which is waived if a program is purchased. The 2-WEEK PROBLEM SOLVING SCHOOL is $595, the 3-WEEK HOME SCHOOL FUNDAMENTALS is $895, and the 4-WEEK HOME SCHOOL ADVANCED is $1195.

Packages offer a 10% discount: the Puppy Package (STAR Puppy, Manners/Obedience 1, Obedience 2) is $418. The Adult Package (Manners/Obedience 1, Obedience 2, plus one other class) is $418. The Puppy/Adult Deluxe Package (STAR Puppy, Manners/Obedience 1, Obedience 2, plus one other class) is $554. Packages must be completed within 12 months of purchase.

Lucky Dog Training Academy, also known as Lucky Dog Sports Club of the Wiregrass, is a dog training business led by Lisa, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Lisa brings a lifelong passion for animals, rekindled in 2008, to her training approach. She emphasizes building a strong human-animal bond and working towards goals as a team.

The academy offers a variety of group classes and personalized in-home training through its “Doggy Home School” program. Lisa is committed to positive reinforcement methods, holding a Fear Free Trainer certification. She trains all breeds of dogs and does not exclude any based on breed.

Her expertise extends to competitive dog sports, with her own dog, Lily, holding titles in obedience, rally obedience, dock diving, lure coursing, and tricks. Lisa aims to help owners achieve well-behaved dogs and strengthen their relationships with their pets.

Accomplishments

Lisa graduated with an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology in 1984 and became a Certified Veterinary Technician. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and a Fear Free Trainer.

She is also a Tester/Evaluator with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator through the American Kennel Club. Additionally, Lisa holds a Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI) certification with Do More With Your Dog. Her own dog, Lily, holds titles in obedience, rally obedience, dock diving, lure coursing, and tricks, and is a certified therapy dog and AKC Community Canine.

How to Get Started!

For Doggy Home School, the process begins with an initial consultation to meet the trainer, evaluate the dog’s behavior, and design a custom training program. This session costs $60, which is included in the program price if the client signs up for training.

For group classes, clients can view the upcoming class schedule and register by clicking the “Register!” link on the website. A wait-list is available for classes not currently offered.
