Margaux Bouviers

Margaux Bouviers’ breeding program aims to produce Bouvier des Flandres dogs that are structurally, mentally, and physically sound, while retaining the essence of the breed. Temperament is highly emphasized, ensuring dogs are protective yet calm enough for family life. All breeding animals undergo comprehensive health testing, with results publicly available. They must also be fine examples of the breed standard and have proven their worth in conformation.

Puppies are whelped and raised in the home, receiving daily care, handling, and socialization with various people. They are exposed to different surfaces and obstacles in a mini-agility yard. Before placement, puppies are fully wormed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and checked by a Board-certified cardiologist. Each puppy is matched with its owner based on personality and the new family’s desires, with Margaux Bouviers providing lifelong support and retaining the right of first refusal if a dog needs rehoming.

Accomplishments

Sandi Lyon, the founder of Margaux Bouviers, is an AKC Platinum Breeder of Merit and was honored as the 2024 AKC Breeder of the Year. Her breeding program has produced 20 bitches and six stud dogs in the ABdFC Register of Merit program, with several ranking in the top ten.

Margaux Bouviers has achieved 13 Best in Show winners, over 160 Champions, 36 Grand Champions, a National Specialty winner, a Top 20 winner, 24 Top 20 conformation qualifiers, 16 Top 20 performance qualifiers, and 3 Dual Champions (herding/rally). Their dogs also excel in various performance activities including herding, agility, rally, obedience, scent work, and carting. Sandi Lyon has been a member of the National Club for over 35 years, served as editor of its publication for 12 years, is a founding member and chaired the Bouvier Health Foundation for seven years, and is Vice President of the Rockford Freeport Kennel Club.
