Testimonials

Marvin Pierce has been an awesome resource for our family as we trained our ~1yr old German shorthaired pointer. This is our second GSP, but the first one we had tried to train with little kids at home, which gave us much less free time for our own training. We dropped our dog Ranger off for the hybrid program and we were so impressed with the results. While we had trained Ranger on some of the basics, he still had significant training issues: unreliable recall, he would pull badly while on the leash, we couldn’t keep him away from the dinner table at mealtime, and he would constantly steal things like socks and play keep away in the backyard where he was impossible to catch. After roughly a week and a half at the hybrid program, we had what felt like a very new and improved dog. Thanks to the expert training of the team and the introduction of the e-collar, I can now let him run off leash and know he will come when called. We can reliably keep him in his bed at family mealtime rather than surfing the table. We’ve broken him of the game of keep-away, and he walks very nicely on leash. Overall it just took our sweet but very pushy dog and made him SO much more manageable. To top it all off, they’ve been an amazing ongoing resource after the initial program and for occasional boarding.

HANDS DOWN the best groom my doodle has ever gotten!! Not to mention she’s silky soft and smells AMAZING!! We’ve had too many bad hair cuts to count to the point my kid has anxiety about it lol. Please save yourself the grief and just go here!

Both my doodles have done the board and train here too and the difference was remarkable. Highly recommend this team!

This was a good investment! We got a special breed puppy and then found out we were expecting baby #3! 5 weeks before baby was due, we met Marvin and the team and he was able to take our giant 15 month old Anatolian Shepherd right then. Their progress reports were always that Shep was doing great, way better than we expected since he had so much separation anxiety. We visited for a day of training and practice after 2 weeks and he was near perfect. After one more week of his training there, we brought him and seriously he was a new dog! Immediately issues we had before the training like no boundaries, mouthy-ness, stubbornness, no recall, no heel (I really could keep listing things) were corrected. He tiptoed through our house out of politeness! I think the timing was great. For the last two weeks of my pregnancy, he was a perfect leash walker for me even with a giant belly. We did a lot of practice to continue his new skills and it was like I was walking a feather attached to his leash – the 150+lb dog! Then, the baby was born, and he did exactly what we wanted. Kept his distance! She’s 4 months old now and he still does not approach her unless we invite him, and he knows to be gentle and avoid her face. This is a giant dog that loves big, every human and small animal he can find, so he shows major restraint this way to respect our boundaries with the baby. He also won’t even enter our/baby’s bedroom unless invited. He comes to look in if she cries, but won’t step through the doorway. He has about 2.5 acres fenced but he still LOVES when we take him on his leash so he can practice. He is too big and too smart of a dog to not have good recall and boundaries with. My only regret is not bringing him to Marvin sooner. It’s been 6 months since Shep graduated training and I still am convinced I’ll bring any future puppies to Marvin again for training! I also think Marvin should expand on the dog board and train to host it as a retreat where the humans stay in cabins and get on the dogs’ schedules to also learn all the new things! Training for both!
