“I came across Maximum Canine when I had to travel out of country. I decided to enroll my 2yr old German shepherd, Simba, into their 6 week board and train program. Safe to say, it was the best decision I made. Prior to training, Simba was a very anxious, fearful, and reactive dog. Daily walks were a challenge as he would excessively pull on the leash, lunge at dogs and people, and would excessively bark. These challenges made it difficult to socialize Simba and it became very stressful when trying to control him in public. Although I was nervous and even heartbroken at the thought of leaving Simba (mainly because he has never been left with anyone outside of family and surely not for that length of time), I trusted in Maximum Canine as they had excellent reviews. I DO NOT REGRET IT!!! They were extremely thoughtful in determining the best program for Simba and how it aligned with our training needs. Specifically, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to his main trainer/handler Toki!!!! She was absolutely AMAZING and such a PLEASURE to deal with!! Toki is a highly-skilled compassionate trainer who is very knowledgeable and truly takes her time to connect and bond with your dog before jumping into training routines. I can’t begin to thank her enough for the care, support, and effort that she put into Simba’s training throughout the 6 weeks. On the 1st day, she called me to introduce herself and reassured me that Simba was in great hands. Toki kept me updated on his progress and sent me messages, videos, and pictures to keep me informed on how he was adjusting which ultimately increased my comfort level. Her attentions and patience with Simba put me at ease. I genuinely felt that she treated him as if he were her own dog and for that I am immensely grateful. Not to mention, when I picked up Simba at the end of his stay, I was touched by Simba’s reaction and affection towards her. Toki also made sure that I felt comfortable with the training methods she had incorporated. Most importantly she had the ability to explain these methods in a way that I would understand despite me being new to the world of dog training. Toki, thank you so very much for all that you did for me and Simba! Thanks to you, Simba is much less anxious and I feel that I can better connect with him which will only strengthen our bond. Walks are now more relaxing and we can enjoy more time outside . To anyone contemplating or reluctant to board and train I highly recommend Toki at Maximum Canine. You won’t regret it!!!
