McClain’s Balanced Dog Training offers several programs. The initial 1-hour consult involves sharing dog information, discussing concerns, assessing the dog, creating a customized training plan, and beginning hands-on training.
Private lessons, lasting 1 hour, provide focused attention on the dog’s specific needs and can be conducted outdoors or in the client’s home. Puppy training, also 1 hour per lesson, focuses on crate training, housebreaking schedules, correcting nipping, and basic obedience to establish a strong foundation.
The Stay & Train program is a three-week intensive program that includes nine solo trainer sessions with the dog and three owner review sessions, conducted in the home environment. Online training is available via FaceTime or Zoom for convenience or quick problem-solving.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
All rates are subject to an 8.65% sales tax. An initial 1-hour consultation costs $175. Private lessons and puppy training are available at $175 for 1 lesson, $660 for 4 lessons, and $1,280 for 8 lessons. The Stay & Train program is $1,875 for a three-week program. Online training is priced at $50 for 30 minutes and $100 for 1 hour.

Clients must provide at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a lesson.
About the Trainer
McClain’s Balanced Dog Training is led by founder McClain, a certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist and a graduate of Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers. McClain brings a unique background in music and extensive animal rescue experience, having personally fostered over 60 dogs and served as Foster Coordinator for Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue.
Her training philosophy centers on creating a clear communication and conflict-reduction system between owners and their dogs, aiming to cultivate gratifying, reciprocal relationships. McClain works with dogs of all temperaments and offers a wide spectrum of services, from puppy basics to addressing complex behavioral issues like leash reactivity and separation anxiety.
She employs a balanced training approach, utilizing a flexible toolbox of methodologies tailored to each dog’s individual needs, focusing on establishing understandable boundaries and rewarding achievements. McClain is committed to making training sessions a stimulating, fun, and bonding experience for both dogs and their guardians.
