Training begins with a 1-hour Initial Consultation to assess the dog and create a customized plan. Clients can then choose private lessons (in-home or outdoor), an intensive 3-week Stay & Train program with solo trainer sessions and owner reviews, or virtual online training via Zoom or FaceTime. Puppy training is offered as a specialized track within private lessons, focusing on crate training, housebreaking, nipping, and basic obedience.

Pricing Summary

Initial consultation: $175. Private lessons: $175 per session, or discounted packages of 4 ($660) or 8 ($1,280). Stay & Train intensive program: $1,875 (9 solo sessions + 3 owner reviews). Online training: $50 for 30 minutes or $100 for 1 hour. All rates include 8.65% sales tax.

Policies

Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice. No board and train services are offered. No free initial consultation.

McClain’s Balanced Dog Training is run by McClain Sullivan, a certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist who works with dogs of all temperaments. She offers personalized training services ranging from puppy basics to behavior modification for leash reactivity, separation anxiety, biting, and resource guarding. McClain combines hands-on in-home training with virtual sessions and an intensive three-week Stay & Train program where she trains the dog solo while conducting owner review sessions to reinforce learning. Her balanced approach uses a flexible toolbox of methods focused on clear communication, boundary-setting, and positive reinforcement to build a strong bond between dog and guardian. She has fostered over 60 dogs through rescue organizations and brings a compassionate, experience-driven philosophy to every client. Her training is designed to be fun and stress-free, helping dogs and owners succeed together.

McClain is a graduate of Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers and continues her education through seminars with renowned trainers like Michael Ellis, Blake Rodriguez, and Tyler Muto. She is based in East Hampton and serves clients throughout The Hamptons, offering private lessons at home or outdoors, online training via Zoom or FaceTime, and customized programs tailored to each dog’s needs. She does not offer boarding, grooming, or day care services.
