They offer group obedience classes structured into different age levels: Puppy Class (10-16 weeks), Teenage Puppy Class (16 weeks-10 months), Adult Obedience Class / Basic (10 months and up), and Advanced Level (12 months and up). Puppy and Teenage Puppy classes consist of 6 or 8 sessions, 2 times per week, with up to 6 dog teams, focusing on socialization, playtime, and basic commands like sit, come, place, and leash training using motivational imprinting.

Adult Basic obedience classes are 8 sessions, 2 times per week, covering socialization, distraction work, heel, sit, down, come, place, and leash training with positive reinforcement. The Advanced Level is 10 sessions, 2 times per week, including socialization, heel, sit, down, come, place, leash training, wait, off-leash work, and redirecting bad behavior.

Metropolitan Executive Dogs, Inc. is a family-owned and operated dog academy established in 2003, building on skills developed since 1978. They aim to raise security standards for families, homes, and businesses, and assist dog owners, K-9 Officers, and dog competitors. They utilize a unique training method called MCM, which leverages the genetic instincts of individual dogs to help clients achieve and exceed their training goals.

The business imports and breeds high-quality Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and Dutch Shepherds from European bloodlines, offering dogs of all ages and training levels, as well as puppies. They provide comprehensive training programs customized for all dog breeds and mixed breeds, focusing on producing loyal, lovable, intelligent, and strong canine companions.

In addition to training, Metropolitan Executive Dogs offers full grooming services and boarding. They are located on a 5.5-acre farm in Jefferson County, WV, featuring large training facilities designed to simulate real-life working situations for dogs.

Accomplishments

The instructors and trainers are national and international competitors, as well as former European Law enforcement Officers. Hardy Ernsting, Vice President and Master Trainer, began his career in 1978 in Germany and developed the unique MCM training method. He has trained multiple dogs for Schutzhund, Police Canine, Army Patrol, and Detection.

Sabine Ernsting, President and Founder, started her career in 1991 in Germany and is also a Master Groomer. The Podium Schutzhund Club, founded in 1997 and led by Hardy Ernsting, has helped members achieve hundreds of titles in working dog sports. Yannick Ernsting, Vice President and Director of Marketing, joined the family business in 2021, bringing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
