These include Basic/Behavior Modification, Intermediate and Puppy Camps, and Advanced Off Leash programs.

Private Dog Training Sessions are held at their facility, allowing owners to work at their own pace with expert guidance. In-Home Dog Training Sessions are offered with a free consultation to address common issues like jumping, counter surfing, leash pulling, house manners, and aggression towards family members, guests, or other dogs. They also address separation anxiety and resource guarding.

For law enforcement, they provide a Tactical Police Canine Handler’s Course, an eight-week program focusing on search work, control, tactical obedience, and criminal apprehension, leading to Minnesota POST approved police canine certification. They also offer ongoing Police K9 Contract Training and customized continuing education sessions covering various topics like obedience, bite training, detection, tracking, and SWAT/K9 integration.

Testimonials

“If you are looking for a place to bring your dog for training look no further. We brought our 1 year old German Shepard mix to Andy and the difference between when we brought him in to after is remarkable. Our dog now is trained off leash, heels at the first command and has completely changed his behavior all around for the better. We feel confident in going on walks again, having people over and bringing him new places.”
– Ian Sullivan

“While I missed my dog very much for 5 weeks, the results I got have been amazing and well worth the time spent away. Before he caused a lot of stress and I could hardly walk him by myself. He had selective listening skills and was always chasing my cat. Now, I can take him anywhere and his behavior is amazing. He listens to his commands and responds accordingly. If he was a door dasher before and when the front door was open he was off. I want to thank Minnesota Canine Consulting! Since Ford has been home life with him has been really less stressful overall!”
– Kelli Hoeppner

“Andy and his team of trainers are so knowledgeable and great at what they do. They took our 7 month old German Shephard and within 4 weeks had her walking perfectly on a leash and doing commands like “sit” and “down”. We get complements all the time on how well mannered she is! The video updates during the training were fun showing her progress along the way. I have already referred another friend to MN Canine Consulting!”

About the Trainer

Minnesota Canine Consulting, LLC, founded in 2015, provides quality dog training for both civilians and law enforcement. They offer a comprehensive range of services including board and train programs, private dog training, in-home dog training, and specialized police canine training and consulting.

The business was started by Andrew Helgerson, a former Eagan police officer with extensive experience in police canine work. In 2022, MCC acquired Acres of Fun Pet Resort, expanding their offerings to include dog boarding, daycare, and grooming services in a tranquil country setting with 5 acres of securely fenced outdoor space.

Their unique advantage stems from their trainers’ backgrounds as working dog handlers in the police canine industry, bringing decades of experience and a focus on reliable behaviors. They emphasize responsible dog handling and treat every dog as a member of the family. They are experts in electronic/remote collar training and use advanced tools and techniques.

They aim to provide unmatched service in dog boarding and modern dog training, fueled by a passion for dogs and a commitment to public service. They offer free consultations for in-home training to help create a personalized plan for dog owners.

Cody Foss is also a veteran in law enforcement with over 20 years combined experience. Their collective background in police canine work is highlighted as a key differentiator, providing expertise in reliable behaviors and advanced training techniques.
