The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Class is for dogs 10 weeks to one year of age (with age-appropriate shots), teaching skills like stay, settle, controlled walking, leave it, down, come, and off, along with puppy care and socialization. The Basic Class is for dogs one year and older, large breeds over six months, or those who have completed S.T.A.R. Puppy, covering sit stay, down stay, come, heel, weaving, figure 8’s, recalls, and polite greetings.
Novice Class is an ongoing, continuous class for members only, expanding on basic skills. Other specialty classes offered include Rally (beginning and advanced), Fit Dog, Trick Dog (leading to a Trick Dog Title), Scent Work (focusing on AKC Scent Work containers), CGC Class with Testing (preparing for AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation), and CD Prep Class (preparing for AKC Obedience Trials).
