The “Advanced Training Program” (approx. 4 weeks) is for dogs 12-14 months old who completed the Started program, teaching gun steadiness, diversion marks, upland hunting, and fly-away birds.

The “Finished Dog Program” for dogs 12-14 months old (up to 4 months) focuses on advanced commands like taking a line, sitting on whistle, hand signals, T-pattern work, and running blinds. The “Pointer Program” for pointers 6.5-7.5 months old (up to 3 months) includes obedience, e-collar conditioning, retrieve-to-hand, single marks, and steady on point. For non-hunting dogs, a 3-4 week “Obedience Training” course teaches heel, sit, stay, and e-collar conditioning through five drills.

Monday Lake Kennels specializes in training retrievers and pointers, with a strong focus on gun dog training for upland and waterfowl hunting, as well as AKC Hunt Tests. The trainer, John, began training in 1982 and has been full-time since 1991, emphasizing an efficient “Retrieve to Hand” technique.

The facility can train up to 15 dogs at a time, ensuring one-on-one attention from the trainer. It features 15 indoor, climate-controlled runs with high cement block walls and a 52′ x 40′ fenced exercise area. Training takes place on over 200 acres of land and water, including sorghum strips and wild grass for realistic upland scenarios.

Monday Lake Kennels also breeds Labradors, typically having 3-4 litters per year with hip and eye guarantees. They also sell trained Labrador retrievers, defined by their obedience, e-collar conditioning, force fetch, shot over, water work, and upland hunting skills, all with veterinarian vaccinations and health guarantees. The kennel also offers boarding exclusively for dogs they have trained.
