Moorhouse Training offers private and in-home training, group classes, and AKC certification programs. Private and in-home training can cover Puppy Starter, Basic Obedience, AKC title reviews and testing, AKC TRICK training and testing, and minor behavioral issues. Group classes incorporate AKC CGC training. The AKC programs include Canine Good Citizen (CGC), AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC Community Canine, AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen, and five levels of AKC Trick Dog titles.

Pricing Summary

Pricing for training varies and is determined after an evaluation, with discounts available for multiple sessions and recently adopted pets (5% discount for dogs adopted within 2 months, proof required). Pet care services include house sitting at $30/night ($40/night for holidays, plus $5 for each additional dog), dog walking at $15/30 minutes ($18/60 minutes, plus $3 for a second dog), and drop-in visits at $10/15 minutes ($13/30 minutes). Payments are accepted by check, Venmo, or PayPal.

Policies

Only partial refunds are made after the start of group classes, with exceptions for unforeseen emergencies. Refunds are not given for private training as it is done a la carte, and payments are not made until training has begun.

Elizabeth Moorhouse, the owner, has been working with dogs since she was 10 years old and has 18+ years of professional experience in the pet industry. She managed a pet boarding/daycare facility for over 3 years before starting her own pet care business in Baltimore.

Moorhouse Training specializes in positive reinforcement, science-based, force-free training, explicitly stating that they will never use or suggest shock, prong collars, choke collars, or any pain or fear-based training. They offer private and in-home training, group classes, and AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) programs, including AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC Community Canine, AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen, and AKC Trick Dog titles.

In addition to training, Moorhouse Training provides dog walking, pet sitting, and house sitting services in Northern Baltimore City and Towson areas. They offer discounts for recently adopted pets (within 2 months of adoption) and for dogs adopted from BARCS, where Elizabeth also works. They are comfortable with all types of dogs and cats, including those with special needs like wheelchairs, deafness, separation anxiety, fear, and barrier frustration.

Elizabeth Moorhouse is CCDT certified through CATCH Canine Trainers Academy. She is an American Kennel Club (AKC) Instructor/Evaluator and is certified in First Aid and CPR for pets through ProTraining. She is a proud member of APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and The Pet Professional Guild. She has 18+ years of professional experience in the pet industry, including managing a pet boarding/daycare facility for over 3 years. She also works at BARCS, helping animals find their forever homes.

How to Get Started!

Before any private session or in-home training, an evaluation/consultation is required. This evaluation is free and lasts 30-45 minutes, during which the trainer assesses the dog and determines the most beneficial training plan.
