Mountain Adventures K9 Academy offers Board and Train Programs, Private Lesson Programs, Puppy Programs, and a Therapy Prep Program.

Board and Train Programs include a 2-week option ($2800) for basic and advanced commands up to an off-leash level with distractions, covering skills like Come/Recall, Sit, Place, Down, Heel, loose leash walking, Door Manners, Car Manners, Release words, nuisance behaviors, and stability. The 3-week option ($3600) is for dogs with more in-depth behavioral issues like reactivity, including all 2-week curriculum plus additional content and in-depth proofing in higher distraction environments. All board and train packages include a pre-board consult, daily picture and video updates, a private send-home session, a complimentary groom, continued support, public outings, and dog distraction work.

Private Lesson Programs are offered in New Ringgold and Lehighton, providing one-on-one focus between trainer and client with flexible scheduling and additional materials and support. The Base Camp (4 Week – $600) package provides foundational skills including Come/Recall, Sit, Place, Down, Heel, loose leash walking, Release words, nuisance behaviors, and stability. The Ridge (6 Week – $770) and Pinnacle (8 Week – $920) packages include all Base Camp portions with additional lessons tailored to working dogs around distractions in busy environments, with optional advanced commands. The Problem Dog (8 Week – $1000) package is for dogs experiencing reactivity issues with other dogs and people, aiming to provide knowledge and confidence to manage these issues.

Puppy Programs include a Private Puppy Program (4 Lessons – $280) for puppies 8 weeks to 4 months old, covering treat luring for basic commands, potty training, crate training, socialization techniques, and the importance of routine and boundaries. A Puppy Consult (1 HR – $80) is also available as a standalone session to discuss puppy woes and tips.

The Therapy Prep Program is a 3-week customized Board and Train course (pricing upon request) designed to prepare dogs and their owners for a therapy dog evaluation. It includes follow-up and prep material to help dogs handle stressors and distractions in therapeutic environments such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Accomplishments

Amanda, co-founder of MAK9 Academy, graduated with an A.A.S. in Occupational Therapy in 2017. She serves as Vice President for a local therapeutic horseback riding program and is heavily involved in the Shiloh community, working towards improving the Shiloh Shepherd breed at the International Club level, with rescue/rehome, and event creations. Maria, also a co-founder, was inspired to start dog training by her husband, a former Marine dog handler. Angela, a trainer, joined MAK9 in 2022 after successfully managing difficult behavioral situations with her own rescue dogs and previously attending school for animal science and becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. The academy has successfully helped many dogs become therapy dogs for school districts, hospitals, and nursing homes.

A trainer will then be in contact to schedule a free phone consultation to discuss individual needs and help determine the best training package. The contact form requests the client’s first name, last name, email, dog’s name, age, breed, and a description of what they are looking to address with training.
