Boarding and Training: This program aims to build long-lasting, positive relationships between owners and their dogs. Dogs stay at the Mountain State K9 Academy facility to learn basic obedience and positive behavior modification. Upon pickup, owners receive a one-on-one private lesson with their dog’s trainer to review what was learned. Programs require an initial evaluation and a two-week minimum stay.
Private Lesson: Owners and their dogs can meet with a trainer at the facility to work on specific behaviors. These lessons can focus on issues previously covered in training that need extra work or new behaviors that have developed.
Off Site Lesson/In-home Lesson: A trainer can come to the client’s house or meet in a public place, such as a park, to address behaviors that may not be displayed during facility training but appear in specific environments.
Group Classes: These classes are exclusive to training program graduates. They provide additional attention and reinforcement of learned behaviors.
Canine Good Citizen Training and Testing: Trainers can prepare dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and administer the test. The program promotes responsible dog ownership and good manners at home and in the community.
Refresher Training: This program is for graduates of a training program who desire further training on new skills or a refresher on previously learned concepts that have not yet been mastered. It is also available for training graduates staying at the facility during owner vacations or for ongoing weekly schooling.
Competition Training: This service helps prepare dogs for upcoming competitions or trials, including AKC trials (e.g., Utility), Schutzhund/IPO, PSA (Protection Sport Association) routines, or UKC Nosework. Training focuses on observation, problem-solving, and building the dog’s confidence to achieve success in trials.
Protection Dog Training: This specialized program develops high-quality protection and dual-purpose protection dogs for home and family. It teaches control, defense, and obedience, resulting in a well-rounded dog that can act and serve the family in times of need while also being a lasting companion.

Testimonials
“We can’t say enough good things about this place! We used them for training or 3 goldendoodles. Our trainer was amazing with the dogs and equally great with helping our kids handle the dogs. Every staff member we encountered was kind and pleasant to deal with. I never had a worry about the dogs being in their care. They even took the initiative to call me when one of our guys started coughing due to some seasonal allergies. All around, excellent place!”

“100% recommend this place! My husband and I have a one year old German Shepherd who had been very difficult to work with…that is until we started training here. We did the three week board and training package, where MSK9 listened to our concerns, and tailored the training to address them. Once seeing our dog again after the three weeks of boarding, it was like he was a new dog! We still have a few group classes to go, but every time we have had a training session so far, I can’t stop smiling and beaming about how much our dog’s behavior has improved…it’s amazing!! Also, it is so clear that every employee here knows what they are talking about, and I appreciate and trust every bit of advice they have given us. Mountain State has been such an amazing experience, I would not go anywhere else!”

“Signed my pup up for classes, friendly staff, easy process.I am adding to this post since all of my dogs have successfully finished board and train sessions. I sought help when I brought my 8-week-old Rottweiler puppy home. He was not the cuddly pup I was expecting, and he was not getting along well with his new dog siblings. MSK9 put him in check really quick after I checked him in at 12 weeks old. His trainer Gator has his and my utmost respect! After he came home acting like a gem, I sent my older dogs in to get re-trained. They all came out better dogs!! I wished I had sent my other two here as opposed to their previous training. Kari, Jacob and the rest of the trainers and staff are awesome! It is a process, and I have learned a lot about myself as an owner and what it takes for me to have my dogs in control and able to have them out in public and home with no issue! I am able to take the dogs almost anywhere! My Rottweiler earned his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certificate here. His breed is somewhat demonized, and I get terrified looks wherever we are, but when any dogs come at him, or situations get loud or hectic he remains calm and looks to me for direction! This is all in his training! Thank you MSK9 for helping me to help my pups!”
