Testimonials

“We took Zoom Basic Obedience and couldn’t be happier with our decision. Sara’s approach is logical and dispels so many myths that have plagued dog training. We live 45 minutes away and between work, juggling my daughter’s school and extracurriculars-tapping into a Zoom class was really the only option. We had access to Sara’s wealth of knowledge and appreciated her individual attention. We plan on signing up for Intermediate Obedience this fall. Thanks for a fun, engaging and rewarding experience!!”
– Meredith and Riggs

“Sara has an amazing ability to explain the dog’s point of view so that you can have the best possible relationship with your dog and other dogs too. This is my first puppy and having Sara’s guidance has enabled me to enjoy my dog and focus on what is really important and not worry about some of the normal growing pains and setbacks that come with all close relationships. Sara also has a keen sense of humor and makes all her classes fun and relaxing as well as informative. I am a tough grader but Sara earns an A+.”
– David and Juniper

“Sara is so skilled in dog (and human) training! We worked with another trainer and while she helped us get started, we were still struggling with recall and some other behaviors. Sara broke it all down for us, teaching us the stepping stones to better recall. In just a few weeks, things have improved drastically and now I have the tools to help me and my dog be better partners. We are on the right track!! I see why she was voted #1 in Maine!”
– Robyn and Raylan

About the Trainer

Sara Sokol is the owner and trainer at Mr. Dog Training, a business established in Maine in 2012. Her goal is to enhance the lives of dogs and their humans by fostering trust, confidence, and connection through mental and emotional well-being support, communication development, and building strong relationships. Her training philosophy is relationship-based and holistic, emphasizing fun, respect, joy, and empathy for both the dog and owner. She focuses on understanding how dogs learn, what drives behavior, clear communication, canine body language, and prioritizing the human-dog bond.

Before founding Mr. Dog Training, Sara started Follow My Lead in Pasadena, California, in 2004, which was a full-service dog walking/running and pet sitting business. To expand into dog training and behavior modification, she completed an internship as a behavior and training tech at the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA. In this role, she performed behavior assessments and taught various classes, including Puppy Kindergarten, Advanced Obedience, Agility, Tricks, and Doga (yoga with dogs). She also served as District Manager of the Connecticut Humane Society, where she implemented new volunteer and enrichment programs.

Mr. Dog Training offers both private training sessions, available virtually and in-person at her facility in Brunswick, and group classes, which also have virtual and in-person options. Additionally, the business provides training videos and operates a referral program for existing clients.
