Neuman K-9 Academy provides in-board training programs, also known as boarding training or board and train, where dogs stay at the Academy for the duration of the program. This approach is designed to be the most efficient form of dog training, with the academy doing the work to deliver a well-behaved canine companion.
The Puppy Boot Camp teaches puppies the fundamentals of being a canine good citizen, incorporating puppy obedience training, crate training, proper etiquette, socialization, and confidence building. It also addresses problematic behaviors such as nipping, biting, and jumping. This program is available in 4-week, 8-week, and 12-week durations.
The Dog Boot Camp aims to achieve the highest level of obedience training, teaching dogs to respond to commands in various situations, meet and greet people under control, and make unwanted behaviors incompatible. This program also focuses on improving physical condition, building confidence, and creating a well-balanced canine companion. It is offered in 8-week and 12-week durations.
Graduates of their training programs gain exclusive access to the Exclusive Dog Boarding program, which differs from typical boarding kennels by reinforcing what the dog has learned at the Academy. Boarding options include group play sessions, refresher training, nature hikes, and treadmill sessions. The academy emphasizes a home-like atmosphere for dogs, daily training (7 days a week, 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM), extensive outdoor (10,000 sq ft) and indoor (3,000 sq ft) training spaces, multiple trainers, proprietary training methods, weekly updates with photos, and video proof of graduation.
Testimonials
“When we picked Indy up after his Boot Camp graduation, we were amazed at what he had learned. He is now more manageable at home and is comfortable being around other dogs and people. Josiah and his team helped us in so many ways and they continue to be a resource for us whenever we need them!”
– Tory & Katy / Eden Prairie, MN
“Josiah has become our “go to” person for behavior advice and K9 Academy is a fun productive place to board Murphy when we leave town. We are forever grateful to Josiah and his staff for cultivating a wonderful, well behaved dog that everyone we meet comments on his good manners.”
– Amelia D. / Eau Claire, WI
“Josiah and Summer are wonderful, professional, patient and incredibly knowledgeable. They helped my family source a beautiful Shiba Inu dog and then took over the training for a few months while he was still a puppy. Dexter (the Shiba Inu) is easily one of the best dogs (and best trained dog) I have ever encountered.”
– Danica Baron / Alameda, CA
About the Trainer
Neuman K-9 Academy, Inc., located in Hugo, MN, is recognized as the nation’s foremost in-board dog training boot camp, often referred to as the “Ivy League” of dog training schools. The academy offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to dog training, aiming to improve the overall quality of life for dogs and their families through extensive education, consistent reinforcement, and a unique training experience.
They are an all-breed obedience training facility specializing exclusively in Dog Boot Camps and Puppy Boot Camps, choosing not to offer other services like classes, doggie daycare, protection training, hunting dog training, rally, or agility. Their training techniques are proprietary, developed over many years of hands-on experience with thousands of dogs, including those deemed ‘untrainable’ by others.
Key benefits of their boot camp include a home-like atmosphere where dogs are housed in the lower level of a home, not a kennel, with in-floor heat, climate-controlled fresh air, and a medical-grade air purification system. Training exercises, real-life scenarios for distraction proofing, physical conditioning, and activities occur every day, 7 days a week, from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM. The facility features a 10,000 sq ft fenced outdoor play area and 3,000 sq ft of indoor climate-controlled training and play space.
They employ multiple full-time, career-oriented professional trainers, both male and female, to ensure dogs learn to respond to various individuals. Clients receive weekly email updates and progress reports with high-quality digital photographs, and each dog’s training is proven with a graduation video published to YouTube. Additionally, graduates have exclusive access to their dog boarding program, which reinforces previous training.
