Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

NexGen K9 Training offers several programs tailored to specific needs. The process begins with a comprehensive initial training session, approximately two hours long, conducted either in your home or at their shop. During this session, they discuss behavior challenges, understand the dog’s home life, and aim to show dramatic behavior changes.

nnFollowing this, training goals and expectations are discussed, and a personalized training plan is created. Sometimes, the initial 2-hour session is sufficient to address unwanted behaviors or provide guidance.

nnTheir Board & Train program is typically a 2-week immersive experience where dogs stay with trainers, including 3 private lessons for owners. Private Lessons involve 3, 5, or 8 consecutive sessions where trainers meet with the owner and dog at pre-designated locations weekly or bi-weekly. Virtual Training offers personalized online sessions, each an hour long, including 1-on-1 training, weekly homework, and trainer assistance throughout the program.

About the Trainer

NexGen K9 Training offers a unique approach to dog training by focusing on training dog owners on how to best train their dogs. They believe that understanding the philosophies behind their training and how a dog’s mind works empowers owners to train their pets for years to come. Their training style is personalized based on the dog’s temperament, recognizing that not all dogs learn the same way.

They specialize in the rehabilitation of aggressive and reactive dogs, aiming to bring balance back to canines affected by urban living. NexGen K9 Training also works on creating a solid foundation for general family companions, teaching owners effective communication with their pets for a peaceful lifestyle. They offer “Functional Obedience” training for puppies and senior dogs, covering behaviors like remaining calm when guests arrive and reliable recall even when distracted.

The company uses a combination of techniques and methods, constantly updating their skills through seminars and clinics to offer a wide array of problem-solving skills. They also work with local law enforcement agencies and service companions.

nnNexGen K9 Training grew from a love for dogs and the excitement of seeing them master inherent skills, expanding to help dogs that others couldn’t handle by teaching calmness and leadership.
