Testimonials

Living out of state, I haven’t had the pleasure of working with John in person, but I can’t say enough great things about the product side of his business! I recently ordered a few RuffLand accessories and was absolutely blown away by the outstanding customer service and incredibly fast shipping. John went above and beyond — personally ensuring my order shipped out the same day I called so I could receive it as quickly as possible. He was kind, professional, and incredibly easy to reach, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. It’s rare to find that level of care and communication these days. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for quality products and truly exceptional service!

There are not enough words to explain how grateful we are to John and his training. We were able to get our dog trained to be my service dog which has made a huge impact in our lives. John is flexible, knowledgeable and adjusts the training to meet your specific needs. Highly recommended!

I have only good things to say about NW K9 my Gus was so reactive and stressed out that he was attacking my other little dog if she got in his way it was to the point that if he didn’t get fixed I was going to rehome him, John listened to me and the stress I was going through with Gus after a couple lessons and a change in an e collar there has been a 100% turnaround he is so much less stressed out and the barking consists of a bark and that’s it he is such a sweetheart now and a pleasure to walk which I was not able to do before to think I had him for a year and a half and hadn’t been able to walk him for fear of him tripping me now with the good weather l am looking forward to walking Gus a lot.

About the Trainer

NW K9 Obedience is a dog training business founded in 2023 by John Knoke, focused on building strong relationships between dogs and their owners using a Stress Ecology philosophy. John specializes in working with reactive, aggressive, and high-energy dogs, helping them become stable and well-behaved members of society. Services include basic and advanced obedience, behavior modification, service dog training, search and rescue tracking, detection work, bite development, and board and train programs. All board and train dogs live in John’s home as part of his personal pack, receiving daily training, play, walks, and public exposure. John also offers treadmill training for exercise and rehabilitation, AKC testing, and sells specialized dog gear like BioThane® leashes and toys. He provides free phone consultations and emphasizes personalized training plans tailored to each dog’s needs.

John is a U.S. Army veteran with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and completed a 1000-hour Master Trainer Academy in Oregon. He trained his own adopted German Shepherd mix, Arie, into a certified service dog and skilled tracking/detection partner, which inspired his career shift into professional dog training. His approach is rooted in real-world application and emotional well-being for both dogs and handlers.

The business serves clients in Olympia, Washington, and surrounding areas, offering in-person training at their facility and in-home sessions. They prioritize military, veteran, and first responder families with discounts and offer priority boarding for service members in deployment or rescue cases.
