NWB Dogs offers several training paths. Their Adventure Board & Train program is an intensive 4-5 week stay where dogs learn rock-solid recall, loose-leash walking, off-leash reliability using an e-collar, calm public behavior, and engagement. The Puppy Raise & Train program is a 3-4 month immersive experience where puppies are raised and trained to be neutral, calm, and confident, covering housebreaking, crate training, and basic obedience.
They provide Private Lessons with expert coaching tailored to specific goals. Group Classes include Puppy Foundations for puppies 8-20 weeks old, focusing on communication, socialization, and confidence, and Trail Blazers: E-Collar Mastery for off-leash reliability. The Columbia Gorge Scent Detection Club offers ongoing nose work training. Additionally, NWB Dogs provides Online Learning courses and hosts Seminars on various topics like tracking, scent work, and e-collar use.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
The Puppy Foundations group class costs $499. The Puppy Raise & Train Program starts at $7,000 per month, with a two-month minimum commitment. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot, and full payment is due before the puppy is received. Payment plans are available upon request.

About the Trainer
NWB Dogs are pet dog trainers dedicated to helping owners and their dogs thrive together. They specialize in engagement-first training, transforming relationships by teaching clear communication that dogs naturally understand. They aim to solve problems where other training methods have failed, focusing on building confident dogs that are engaged and motivated to work.
NWB Dogs offers various training programs including private lessons, board and train, group classes, and online courses. Their approach goes beyond basic obedience, providing real-world skills for everyday life and adventures, especially for outdoorsy dog owners in the Columbia River Gorge. They also operate an online shop selling dog training equipment and merchandise.
Accomplishments
The NWB Dogs team consists of Matt Luchsinger and Jen Sotolongo, both proud NePoPo® Gold graduates. Matt, a NePoPo® Gold Multiplicator, has over a decade of dog training experience and founded NWB Dogs in 2014 after successfully training his own reactive dog. He has studied under renowned trainers Bart and Michael Bellon of the NePoPo® system. Jen, a NePoPo® Gold certified trainer, is the author of “The Essential Guide to Hiking with Dogs” and owner of the adventure dog blog Long Haul Trekkers. Together, they have helped thousands of dog owners transform their relationships with their dogs for over ten years.
How to Get Started!
To begin training, clients are encouraged to schedule a consultation by filling out a contact form for a phone discussion. During this consultation, NWB Dogs will learn about the client’s struggles and goals to create a customized training plan. Training then proceeds through private coaching or a board and train program, aiming to equip owners with effective communication skills for their dogs.
